Do you all consider Joanne as country?

Country inclined but the tracklist made the album confusing at times, thats why i think it could’ve been a great EP

The Fame

I actually think her fashion influenced it's poor reception. She kinda came out in a cowboy hat, boots, shorts and like...regular shirts. Everyone started calling it the 'yee-haw cowboy album'. I think if she wore more 'high fashion' things with it like every other album, no one would have thought to call it the cowboy album because really, it's not THAT country and no one would have made that connection. People tie her fashion to her musical era VERY strongly. Like I can hold up a picture of her in a black outfit with paint smeared on her face and any Little Monster will know that's the start of ARTPOP, Applause specifically. Country music is a widely hated genre (for whatever reason, it's besides the point), so she sort of branded it poorly from the beginning (sadly). I am not a Joanne hater, btw. My fav Gaga song ever comes off that album, just trying to present an objective thought on its reception.

Yet it's her shortest album :messga:

For me it was half baked

Diamond heart had jarring vocals, despite a cute lyrical story and instrumental . Other tracks felt weirdly mixed with the vocals too

A-YO, was cringey and apparently an attempt to replicate uptown funk mass appeal

Come to mama felt uninspired and wasn't even written by her after emphasizing how she writes alllll her music

Hey girl is a waste of potential and talent

Angel down sounds unfinished , just like Alice tbh. Both could've been better with some more tweaks or structural changes imo

I think it's redemption is found in perfect illusion, million reasons, dancin in circles, Joanne, and John Wayne. Love these songs. But literally idk the rest is just so forgettable and it's really bad in it's low points. And that's my opinion!

Perhaps that's why it's one of her best songs lyrically :vegas:

I actually really love country music, Joanne having elements of country is not the reason I dislike the album.

Looking back at that last radio interview where she said the album title officially few weeks prior release and how euphoric she was trying to finish it ASAP, finalizing tracklisting... Awkward

I actually used to love Come To Mama till she ruined the song when she performed it for Hilary Clinton :smh:
