Is Gaga being limited by her fanbase?

Yes I agree. I love her upbeat/dance songs, they give me my daily dose of serotonin 😂, but I get tired of those songs easily, so I probably only listen to them a few times a week.

I think she could make a great pop/rock album with Linda Perry/P!nk/Shallow vibes.

This. I think Tay's a stronger songwriter, but even if she wasn't...they occupy such different spaces it's impossible to compare.

I think when we think of songwriting, the music itself has to be taken into account. Sometimes people only consider the lyrics. To that end, I would say that's where they're even more incomparable. The *types* of songs they make are just so different, but both done to great effect (regardless of whether or not you like it, both are *always* successful so it's effective lol). How can we compare the people who write Euro/dance pop and country pop and eventually straightforward pop? The genres just demand different things in order to be successful.

For instance, I think Gaga typically has more interesting and fleshed out productions but that is squarely because she is in the dance pop genre where that is *critical* whereas TSwift on Folklore might have better storytelling which this kind of alt pop she's doing demands.

Probably.

I'd be curious if she didn't have fan feedback whether or not the LG6 would still be Chromatica or something else.

Chromatica feels like a full circle moment. It's the new showcase of vocals she's all about these days with the dance music that brought her to fame in the first place.

I hope she doesn't even pay attention to fan requests moving forward, because I'm much more interested in what she wants versus what we want.

Even if I don't jive with the final product.

lady gaga is better as a pop artist, taylor is better srtipped back. we didn’t limit her, and then we got joanne, which we can all agree (yes even you joannsters) that it’s not one of her best albums.

we can’t limit her, we’re fans, we don’t really mean anything to her really and she does what she wants, it’s the gp that matters to her. stop feeling like we control her life because we don’t, we’re not the monsters she’s singing about in replay, she doesn’t see what monsters say about her on twitter because she’s literally not on twitter... and it’s hard for me to believe she’s even on here too... she can do what she wants, and so can we.

Joanne was a mess because she didn’t commit to a sound. Her family oriented folk acoustic album had a song about hear dead aunt followed by an up tempo electronic dance song followed by a pop song about masturbation. :bear: Let’s not base all her work that’s not dance pop on that. We know what she can do outside of the same old dance pop routine she keeps pushing with her solo albums.

Listening to Taylor Swift’s new amazing album made me think that if Gaga had come up with this type of sound for LG6 all the fanbase would be mad at her because its not upbeat music, but Taylor fans are really enjoying it... and it’s really sad because I don’t see other fanbases limiting their faves with the “no ballads” narrative, KP releasing Daisies as a lead is another example.
i think Chromatica is great and I appreciate it much more than I did when it came out, but it made me wonder if Gaga refrains from being more experimental because she doesn’t want to let down the fans who are expecting only dance music from her and the ammount of undeserved hate that Joanne gets...

anyways let’s just celebrate that we are getting great music this year :woohoo:

Maybe let just don't judge all fans as one because for me, I love Joanne or Million Reasons and they're ballads songs for sure. Of course, I felt in love with Gaga because of her pop music but I don't see anything wrong with chanching her music style or whatever she wants.
