People rarely just simply enjoy (pop) artists work without putting others down while doing so. Also, popularity of one's preferred artist brings validation to an individual, in a sense proclaiming to him that his/her preference is the right one, feeding the child within him called ego. Once a new artist comes along, especially in commercial pop music, validation source is now limited and the focus is on another peaking artist, in other words; the process repeats itself in another spotlight; within another stan culture. They will need to churn out one album in 1-2 years like Rihanna used to do in the early 10s.
