Oyster 2,458
the biggest downfall. this is what acting stupid and not thinking about the consequences of your actions can do. CRINGE (she didn’t do anything awful she was just super hard to watch in 2017-2018)

BHM 145
I think Smile is pretty dull. It sounds like this is how we do which is maybe my least favorite single from her prism era. The only song I love from her release for this album so far is never really over.
gagaxsebert 5,804
I feel so bad for Katy. She truly deserves more The problem with this album specifically is she’s trying to recreate Teenage Dream & Prism, she’s basically said it herself. They are two pop albums from the early 2010s, times have changed unfortunately. She should’ve done a full 180 and do something not pop, ala Joanne/C2C (not these genres specifically just the change in image & sound). She needs to reinvent what the public thinks when they hear/see Katy Perry. But since that’s not happening this is what should’ve been done with what we’ve got, keep in mind all this should’ve been promoted properly. NRO (Late May 2019), perfect choice in single, terribly promoted. Capitol should’ve promoted properly & radio would’ve picked up too. Then promo single, Daisies (Early July 2019), with the album pre order. The album aesthetically should’ve gone along the lines of NRO & Daisies visuals & Smile is an good name (& song but should be an album cut). Then second single (early August 2019), a different we haven’t heard off the album yet, music video, promo etc. Then Harleys in Hawaii two weeks before album drop (late September 2019) as a promo single, to generate hype. Album drops late September, single released the same day with radio & playlist push. This would’ve been better than the mess we’ve gotten. Used to be HighRoad

I'm not a KP fan, but don't count her out yet, she can still make a comeback even within this era. She just needs to put more effort into her art. Yeah she's pregnant and yeah the pandemic/BLM makes anything business related a shaky thing, but she can still do numbers if she plays her cards right. She always has amazing mv, she can serve vocals and genuinely great songs. I don't want to be a little manager, but if she doesn't wanna "fade away" she needs to up her game. I'd rather her do something else if she can't put out good music. It doesn't have to be Teenage Dream 2.0, but what's the point of making singles/albums if it doesn't feel like a complete package? Lately it seems like she's throwing songs and hoping theyll stick instead of actually crafting and honing her skills. Just my two cents. I think no one has ever gone from hit making Popstar to TV judge and then had an smash comeback and i doubt KP will be the first one

Brecht 7
This Is How We Do was already a terrible song and now she made one that sounds like it but worse, I don't know what's happening to her. Was her secret Dr Luke and Max Martin?

coolninjaguy 1,239
can i also mention that the only goodwill she had from the gp was for her sex appeal and making cute bops. like for the longest time she was seen as that sweetheart with big b***s (it's the truth). and then the complete 360 she did really made most of the gp turn away (kinda like btw with gaga but obvs btw still had impact compared to witness). also the music quality decreased as well ... compare the singles from witness + nro/smile/hih to the singles from TD and prism... Aga Gydal 3,158
As far as commercial pop stars go, I’ve never seen such a massive drop in interest for someone and that includes Gaga. When Gaga fell it captured headlines but with Katy it feels more like indifference than a deliberate rebuke. I don’t believe that anyone can maintain dominance on that level for long so nothing against musicians who eventually aren’t the flavor of the month, but I guess I’m still perplexed by the extent to which she’s fallen off with the public. These songs are making zero impact outside of like, her Twitter followship.
