These nominations and winners are negotiated with MTV beforehand. She knew she was getting these noms because they have clearly agreed beforehand to show up. MTV wouldn't award Video of the Year to someone who is not in attendance (remotely or physically). I think radio will continue to hold less weight as streaming continues to be the dominant way people judge a song's success.
