I think the reason there were 9 singles was because 8 were double singles. I know for sure that “If I Were A Boy” and “Single Ladies” were released at the same time but I’m unsure if her label followed with that concept throughout the whole era.

Those days are gone. Expect 1 or 2 singles from nowadays eras.

She also did it with Diva / Halo, but the rest of the singles were individual and seperate dates

Yeah they started the era off as one single from I Am... then one from Sasha Fierce, IIWAB and SL then Halo and Diva and that was supposed to be it but then they did BHG and Sweet Dreams but separately THEN they noticed her fans responded better to the dancier pop songs at the time (because of Gaga and electropop’s rise in popularity I suspect) so they released another 3 singles from the SF side

I think Gaga’s initial plan was for 6 singles but tbh that doesn’t work in the streaming age; most people release 1-2 fully promoted singles pre-album drop and then when the whole album is basically out for free for everyone (bc Spotify is free) to stream they usually release one barely promoted single if you’re lucky. The only reason they did this YEARS ago was because they were promoting the album when people had to physically buy it in stores but around the time IASF and The Fame came out iTunes had picked up so it was becoming less and less then by the time Self Titled and ARTPOP were out streaming was the driving force hence the significant single numbers difference
