Views on homosexuality by country (2020)

I'd like to point out that even when people say that they "accept" homosexuality, it doesn't mean that they are comfortable with it and wouldn't act as homophobic dumbasses.

I live in France in a country where homosexuality is generally very well accepted, thankfully it's not a big issue compared to a lot of places in the world, but I wouldn't tell half of the people at my workplace that I'm gay because I know a lot of them would start seeing me differently and be uncomfortable with it. I even heard one of them scream something homophobic in the open space one day, beautiful memory, I was boiling inside

I'm so confused by pride parades, and I hate that I am. Cause I'm all pro activism. It is what made gay civil rights what they are today. But these days it always feels like (most) people are there for the wrong reasons and it just rubs people the wrong way. 

Can someone educate/convince me please?

Do you go to pride parades or is it just an external point of view ? Real question, because I used to think the same way before going to a parade for the first time

That is so sad to hear! In our country (and it is very conservative in general) it has somehow became like a social issue if you are not fine with gay people. Like I know people who hates gay people, but can't mention it cause you will get judged on your close mindedness.

I have been to pride in Cape Town twice. The little parade through the streets I understand and get and people take recognition of the issue (except the hot dancers in g strings). But that is not why the majority of the gays were there..... And the videos/footage from other prides doesn't seem different to me. 

Am I missing something?

That's really cool if that's like a general thing in your country ! I'd say that it's 50% like that here, I'm only judging on my own experience tho

Isn't your country also struggling with an uprise of far right radical political movements?? Why the **** is the developed world suddenly so obsessed with going 'back to the way things were'

Not Uruguay with 0% when it's the most LGBT friendly country of Latin America, with the most social acceptance, a LGBT touristic and has approved the most laws to protect the community prob of America as a whole.

Yes, I fear that Marine Lepen (far right radical party) could win the next presidentials 

A lot of people are like "we tried everything and everyone, it's always the same ****, let's try someone more radical". There's also a lot of different factors, for example :

The far right radical party is seen negatively by the medias, and people love to feel like they are free independent thinkers so they want to go against the medias.

In France we're part of the EU, with open borders, it's hard to explain in english but our policies have to take into consideration the EU's rules, and we have to work hand-in-hand () with our neighbors. And now a lot of people wish that we would be more selfish and focus on our own Nation, and also close our borders because "we don't want people stealing our jobs, we'd rather see them die in the Mediterranean Sea running away from war"
