Guest
8 hours ago, Isidro Guevara said: ARTPOP was EDM but not the generic edm that radio play. I mean compare Aura, Applause, G.U.Y. or Jewels N'Drugs to a popular EDM song. They stand apart and alone. They hit hard! They instantly grab you and are rather harsh! Break Free vs G.U.Y. You can tell the latter hits harder and is not as commercial and carefully made for radio as the other one. There's more to EDM than what's played on the radio. Way more. I never said it was commercial EDM. I just said it was generic, and if you listen to EDM in the raw genre (as in, not EDM producers producing pop music) its not a stretch at all. But like I said, I like ARTPOP. I am not arguing about the quality of it. And I am not someone who expects every album to be something new and groundbreaking that's never been done before. RouboRoubo 511
Am I the only one who thought the title was refering to the Koons balls? 👀👀👀
Twitter 14
That’s because ARTPOP discuss pain and past traumas. Chromatica is like mature pains and current traumas.

Anderson123 38,376
ARTPOP and Chromatica are like a ying and yang but I can see why fans would think that. She was angry, rebellious, it was her messy album and just wanted to have fun. Chromatica is the album where she allowed to get help and get healed, accept all of those things she was angry about. It's like she went to therapy and even Gaga herself has said this about Do What U Want, she was in such a state of mind that she wished she could talk to her younger self and tell her to get help. That's why she did all of those things and it wasn't until she sorrounded with the right people (Tony, Bobby Campbell, Mark Ronson, Bloodpop, Bradley, even DJ White Shadow) that she allowed to let things go. I mean, at least this is what I think, we obviously don't know what happens in her personal life and should respect it.
Thaniel22 1
I always found it funny how many monsters praise ARTPOP as her most experimental and "gutsy" record-for me,in a lot of ways it is her most generic one. It's like she said,'ok Im gonna have a couple of songs about sex (Sexxx dreams,G.U.Y),a couple about drugs (Mary Jane Holland,Jewels and Drugs,Dope),some ballad-like songs (Dope,Gypsy),some about fashion because-duh!(Fashion!,Donatella) and then to top it all of, i'll have some 'deep', 'experimental' songs ,either in sound (Aura, Venus, Swine perhaps) or topic (Do What You Want,Swine-the whole 'Piece-of-me', 'how the industry exploits artists' kinda theme). And i'll make them all heavy, not in vogue-Edm,to prove that I'm not going for the hits, but for the Art'. Not that i believe the album didnt express her true feelings or anything,I just always thought of it as kinda calculated, meant to further explore and 'deepen' the Gaga persona/mythology she so intensively cultivated in her early years. There just weren't any left field songs, like Americano,or Teeth-the concepts where very straightforward and unsublte,no matter how much she tried to muddle them with the videos and the interviews.I got the feeling that she saw how her over-the-topness had become the norm, with other artists stealing her style and all,and Adele popularizing the extreme opposite-total blandness-and she decided to go even further over the deep end instead of changing course(like,I still remember the whole Abramovic Method video). Chromatica on the other hand manages to blend perfectly in my opinion both her commercial and artistic side.It is her most cohesive album of yet (which for an artist who has often been accused of being all over the place, shows great growth),she sounds better than ever, has some very 'streamable' and easy to listen songs that play on her stylistic and dance-pop strengths, while also being once again not too current for todays radio, and (with the exception of 3-4 songs which she apparently-and rightly-means to use as singles)playing with subtle themes that are not truly common for commercial pop(mental illness, identity, etc). She shows that she KNOWS she is at a point in her carreer where she needs a couple more hits and to built her streaming power, and she is willing to adapt that need with her artistic vision. It's pretty much like a do-over of Fame in some ways, when she knew she needed to make a big splash.I wouldnt rule out an EP re-release in the future,a la Fame Monster, where she becomes a little more daring and 'experinental'/dark' again, perhaps with some of Sophie's productions?
