I think that millionaires in the public eye should be able to take criticism, and if they cannot, they deserve to step aside.

We couldn't afford cable and YouTube became my main source of entertainment. Jenna was my first "YouTuber" and I followed her weekly videos, without fail, on the day of their release. I remember watching her go through her breakup, finding Julien, and everything in between and beyond. It's such a weird day. I know there's more important things happening in the world, but this is an additional kick to the shin.

I know she hasn't been doing the best mental health-wise; I respect her decision to take a step back and wish her nothing but the best. I'm sure we'll still see her pop up in Julien's videos, podcasts, streams, etc. After all, she did say she was stepping back from her channel, not the internet entirely.

And all things considered, she didn't blow out her pockets for that house, either. She saved and spent her coin thoughtfully. That house, while stunning, is not that much higher priced than the average home in that part of California (the normal is averaging about $1.2 - $1.8 mil).

Cancel culture should be cancelled. Other people do so much more wrong that Jenna ever did, and never got cancelled. Anyone who was ever offended by her videos isn't a person who should be on the internet. There are a lot more offensive things than this out there.

If they did something truly awful then they deserve to be cancelled. But Jenna, I don’t think she should be cancelled. Yes her tan was dark and she was imitating Nicki but she removed those videos as soon as anyone said they were offended. Jenna always proves she wants to spread positivity but people just want something to do so they cancel her.

They did actually cancel him. Shane has used actual blackface quite a lot in his videos and has been called out for it constantly. And it's deserved.

The difference is that Jenna's body at the time matched the face, she WAS that dark all the time, especially without all the lights she uses now. She was spray tanning heavily, it wasn't an impression of someone's skin color but rather a personal preference after working in a tanning salon.

How's she going to pay her bills? Doesn't she have to pay property tax? I don't see how this is feasible longterm. 

Cancel culture definitely does need to be cancelled, but no one was trying to cancel her so I don't know why you guys are throwing fits. She most likely wants to get just to get her mental health in order. Though she is more than privileged to have the life she does, having to constantly make creative content can be mentally fatiguing.

Those kids just have no idea about how human brain works. They are uneducated, quick to judge (classic), bored on the internet and looking for drama. The fact that she has to be deeply sorry because she was tanned is just beyond my comprehension. And the fact that those influencers have to say sorry for stuff like that is even making things worse in my opinion. 

Being offended lays on your side. It is your emotion. You have to deal with it. If you are a thinking adult you can easily decide what's the difference between situations like this and truly problematic people. 

edit: And, another thing. Typing on twitter is much easier than doing any other form of activism. I would like to see those kids in 5 or 10 years actually making the world better. Those rants on twitter remind me of medieval mob that was quick to hang any person, just to feel better about themselves and feel sense of 'justice'.
