One of my first thoughts was of Ariana's No Tears Left To Cry, which was about the same thing. Matter of fact, when she was confirmed on ROM and what the song was about, I actually said something like: "After this, Ariana really needs to start singing about something else, lyrics about crying seem to be her thing now." So, I think between the two, Katy got quite the inspiration here. Sure, I thought that ROM has been out for little over a month, is that really enough time to make a new song based on the same concept but then I remembered that recently, I've written whole songs all by myself and I don't have a team of songwriters who can help me out. Honestly, music can be made very quickly if you set your mind to it, just look at Thank U, Next, with videos and everything, not even any featured verses to pad the songs out. Granted, I thought it was going to be a bigger hit than it turned out to be but we never claimed it to be anything else than a bit of a damp squib, unlike some Katy fans who are trying to sell the idea of NRO and Daisies being major hits and those were much bigger flops than SL. It didn't take off because even her fans admit that it's not that amazing, me included. The public really responds to quality with Gaga (most of the time, I never thought Just Dance and Telephone were all that great but look at the hits they turned out to be). Of course Ariana was a major reason why it went to #1, most of us have never denied that. I don't want Gaga to become an artist who can only get a hit from a collab but it's better than never having hits at all. And Katy may not be a competing force anymore but Gaga certainly is. How can you claim she isn't when she's had 2 top tens and 2 #1 singles and 3 #1 albums in the last 3 years? Gaga, Ariana, Taylor and Ed are the only popstars who are still massively successful. Pop is in the doldrums and they're the only ones keeping it moving. For Gaga to still have this success with pop music when she's 34 year old woman when the charts are all about the exact opposite 3 things right now is amazing and I don't know how you can deny that. ArtpopAct2 2,672 Posted June 23, 2020 Share Posted June 23, 2020 It may be unpopular but I liked the majority of Witness way better than I liked Daisies So I hope she goes back to serving I don’t want her to feel like she has to rehash tho like I love TD and Prism but to describe your new album as a combo of ones you made 7 and 10 years ago....
