socotra 3,310
Naturally one of the topics that I've seen the most on the forum is some variation of "What's your favorite ______________" and as a fan since Just Dance, I find that my "favorite" is always changing. So how do you determine what your favorite album(s)/song(s) are? Does recency affect your rankings, or moreso how it made you feel when you listened? Is your ranking fluid or pretty set in stone? Do you rank more based off emotion, or an academic appreciation of the song (or both)? Is the feel of the song more important to you, or are you a lyrics person? got any songs you're guilty to admit are your favorites? I was thinking about this cuz I have been LOVING Stupid Love lately, as I've come to appreciate its production and Gaga's intention with that song (not letting my own expectations for the LG6 lead get in the way of what SL actually is), but how does that compare to a song like Born This Way, which I was ADDICTED to when it first came out, but hardly ever listen to anymore? I was thinking, is BTW actually one of my faves anymore?
Mirrion Rizzons 10,877
it depends, some songs are always up there for me, such as MTN, Judas and You and I. But I go through phases of loving other songs, but this changes. For example, I'm currently obsessed with replay, Babylon, Grigio girls & electric chapel
raragaga 8,119
It's usually how I feel emotionally when I listen to it. Marry the Night became my favorite because of the meaning behind it. I have an emotional connection to the songs I love the most, as opposed to just liking the beat or vocals. xoxo
xoxo Craig 55,649
For me, its all about the full track experience. The lyrics, the vocal delivery, the composition of the instrumental, the individual components of that instrumental and how they all blend together to make it work. Its also about the genre too 90s House, House, EDM, Electro pop are all genres that I thrive with. Chromatica is literally my album lmao End Racism Now
Twitter 14
I’m very versatile with music. But a song becomes my favorite with these bonus points: - Favorite artist - Vocals/creative autotune - Genre is pop, R&B, trap, or rock. - Instrumental is catchy - Lyrics are relatable/emotional
gypsy101 5,453
isn't it usually just which one you like the most?
Lord Axel 824
It definitely varies from person to person; like you said, some go by emotion, some go by how objectively good an album/song is relative to other albums/songs they've heard, some just follow the crowd (), etc. I personally go by emotional connection when I think of faves; for example, Dance in the Dark is my all-time favorite song (not just Gaga) because of how it specifically made me feel right from the first listen; I absolutely love 80's synth music and instantly classic melodies so the instrumental is literal perfection, I love dark themes in general so the fact it's one of the darker songs on TFM really hit me, I love any kind of references in media so its bridge is a recipe for a perfect climax, and not to mention Gaga's vocals on the song range SO much that it just encompasses everything about her entire being imo So yeah, usually my favorites are pretty set in stone from first listen, but of course there have been a few exceptions ʟɪᴠɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴏʟᴅ ᴀɴᴅ ᴛʜᴇ ꜱɪʟᴠᴇʀ ᴅʀᴇᴀᴍ ϟ†▽✰𝒿 ~Ɐ

Zachary Jude 155
My favorite Gaga song is The Edge of Glory, and I narrowed it down because of how it makes me feel. It is epic in scope, catchy, and emotional. Her other songs are like that too, but TEOG just really sticks with me and has stuck with me since she released it. Think it's a wound I still entertain...
