I need to return to office next week because "everything is back to normal" but I'm really trying to change my job

Yazzzzz people in the Toronto area or Peel (where I am) we will finally be able to get a dam haircut

 

The Toronto area & Peel which have been exempt from stage 2 due to higher cases will finally join the rest of Ontario as cases drop to very low numbers

 

Cities where stage 1 will progress to stage 2 on the 24th:

 

Toronto

Mississauga

Brampton (my city )

Vaughn

Milton

Burlington

Markham

Cambridge

Guelph

Caledon

 

Winsor area near the US border is the 1 city still to remain in stage 1 due to high number of cases mostly among farm workers and temporary foreign workers

Prepare for the second wave...Portugal is quickly marching towards a second lockdown because of re-opening (well, not directly because of it, but because people simply ignore there's a virus going around and don't follow the social distancing rules).

I believe there's no way of re-opening anything safely unless your country/city is doing as well as New Zealand. No new cases + all past cases closed is the only way to be safe. That, or a vaccine

U can't stay closed forever tho. We always knew cases might rise the whole point was to flatten the curve and build up healthcare capacity the goal wasn't trying to get cases to 0

But we haven't flattened the curve lol...it's rising again cuz people can't just have several seats and wear a mask

We have. Had we done nothing it would be way higher than it is now

 

Flattening the curve doesnt mean no spikes or near 0 cases

 

That doesn't mean there aren't places being too lax like some US States or Brazil for example

Shows you how human nature is. And a second lockdown won’t work the way people think it will, because many people are already tired of it being like this. At this point, the narrative is going to have to be that the most at-risk or immuno-compromised people should stay home and the rest of the world continues on as usual.

We can’t lock down until a vaccine is created and widely distributed, life doesn’t work like that. It absolutely sucks that some places didn’t lock down at all or some did very minimally, but other places have been locked down quite heavily since the pandemic began. This is affecting the lives of millions, and the suicide rate would skyrocket with another lockdown. Some countries are too incompetent to fit the population’s financial needs during lockdown, so many lives will be destroyed and lost by continued lockdown alone.

I care about the lives lost. I don’t want it to spread further. But people can’t live like this forever.

People say “well if people just stayed home/wore a mask” well that’s the problem. People. Plans don’t work out as perfectly as expected when you add the human element. It’s a wonder we even managed to be as organized with lockdown as we were.

It's not just incompetence. Some Countries literally don't have the money

 

Do u know how expensive it is to replace income? With typical 20% tax rates it's literally costs like 5 months of collected income taxes to give back 1 month of lost income

 

Not to mention other avenues of tax revenue are also down

 

Ppl need to remember the Government is not an unlimited money tree either

 

Here in Canada we were in good financial standing so we actually had a generous income replacement program. It's cost so much that we are expecting over a decade worth of deficits in this one year

Honestly I agree but I know we need the sacrificial lambs for ~the economy~ or whatever.

I just feel bad for all the food service workers who will have to be in the risky position of interacting with lots of people every day. A girl I used to work with recently has a nervous breakdown and quit because she was so scared about being around lots of customers every day (where I live literally no one wears masks).
