I'm not on Twitter so I don't know, but has MARINA addressed her tweet re: mental illness and police officers?

i don’t think so and it was blown incredibly out of proportion.

I mean... the rhetoric that mentally ill people are dangerous is harmful. She didn't mean anything nasty by it, which I understand, but it was a bad take.

The whole point is that mentally ill people CAN be dangerous and thats why we need urgent psychiatric care on a public level

Mentally ill people are more often victims than perpetrators, especially of police violence.

I just checked her twitter and I couldn't find the tweet so it looks like she deleted it, but I doubt she'll say anything further on it

I agree. I’m sure Marina didn’t mean to stigmatise mental illness though, especially knowing how educated and vocal she is on the topic.

She should just move on and pretend it didnt happen. Everyone makes mistakes.

Obviously, anyone can be dangerous. That's like saying "physically ill people CAN be dangerous".

Mental illness is very rarely the catalyst for violence though. Lets avoid that stigma 😁
