I couldn't quite put my finger on it (maybe because I wasn't concentrating) but Replay has a 1930s/1940s swing/jazz influence, electro swing sound :tony:

That's why it sounds so different from most of the album, it could honestly fit on a jazz influenced album (like Back to Basics of Christina Aguilera).

It is literally like an old record/sample on replay/skipping.

Lou Bega is shook :nooo:

It's jazzy, swingy and spooky :rip::pawsup::rip:

I love the song more and more honestly and I'm thinking it could be a single. Can you imagine releasing it around Halloween?

EDIT FOR THE LITTLE DOUBTSTERS WHO ARE ENTITLED TO THEIR OPINION:

that main high pitched instrument you hear during the instrumental section/beat drop to me sounds like a brass instrument on an old record. I'm not saying it is but it's like they were going for that sound. And the beat/bass combination is very swingy to me. This is just the main influence I'm getting from the song.

SECOND EDIT FOR THE LITTLE ROASTERS :fthis::

I have changed the title and description slightly to "Electro Swing" instead of just "jazz, swing" influence

Look it up :reductive:

Kind regards

Gaga needs to 'Jazzify' it and put it in her Jazz & Piano show just like she did with paparazzi:staymad:

Something tells me you don’t listen to 30s/40s jazz music :poot:

:what: I actually do (not everyday though). I'm not saying Replay IS 30s/40s jazz music, but especially what's going on in the beat drop is very jazz dance with a pop spin on it.

Tell me what instruments do you hear in the beat drop ?

Kind regards

For me it especially sounds like it in the beat drop/instrumental section. What are the instruments played for you in that section?

Kind regards

This forum is doing the most with these genre classifications :rip: "It's bubblegum pop with disco elements and death metal wrapped up in polka" :rip:

synthesizers

neither that nor the chord progression are jazzy

I hear really haunting and upbeat synths. And a four on the floor beat. Iconic.

I appreciate people who have opinions on what the songs sound like! It makes us think about it more and really pay attention to the beat.

Chill out to the people who feel the need to be sassy over someones opinion :huntyga: Good lord.
