The should've released they The Edge Of Glory the first week of April to give the era legs and then continue with Marry The Night. They shipped it, but it got shipped back

The BTW single choices were good, I just think Judas should have came as the third single. It did well in the Anglophone countries but flopped everywhere else, a song like Hair would've been a better choice They shipped it, but it got shipped back

If she got to pick all the singles her career wouldn't be where it is. There's a reason artists have management and record labels. Lady Gaga doesn't owe us anything
Gerrard174 697
Honestly, she should've released Marry thr night first as lead single, then born this way as second single 1 week before album. This way, BTW the song will have a very big exposure coinciding with album release. Judas together with the album definitely not a good choice
AVeryGagaHolyDick 26,226
Born This Way was probably one of the most, if not the most frontloaded song of all time, and the song wasn't that popular (at least here in Europe), so I guess any choice would have been good since it went #1 for weeks almost everywhere. Commercially, I believe that The Edge Of Glory would have been the best, but it would have been strange to start the era with it

It's pretty frustrating that Judas was released in April, shortly before The Edge of Glory became a single, since it kind of blunted Gaga's momentum on radio. I think if Judas wasn't released then, The Edge of Glory would have been an even bigger hit than it was, possibly even hitting #1.
GagaUnderYou 4,994
Gaga wanted Marry the Night. Fans wanted The Edge of Glory. The world wanted Born This Way. I personally would leave BTW as the lead as it was a good opener for an intense era.
