Suprise.... somebody's wrong again

Of course more testing would lead to more positive results. That is just a testament on how contagious this virus is & the importance of social distancing and face covering practices in public as well as hand washing.

It must be nice to think that the number of actual cases don't matter. What a privileged way to look at it. Considering how contagious the virus is, you don't get to choose whether or not you get it and you don't get to choose whether you get a mild or a severe case.

If everybody thought the way that you did, we would all have it and the people who would die would just be collateral damage like you seemed to just imply.  Is that really how you feel?

How I am wrong? :lmao:

The number of cases isnt important. We know that most people dont even show symptoms, so yes, there are more cases around. We know that from antibody tests made in New York and around the world.

The fact that they do more tests or learned who to prioritize for testing will automatically see an increase in positive cases.

So probably you are uninformed again.:applause:

So according to you knowing who does or does not have the virus is of no consequence then?

Where did I say that people had a choice?

And again, it seems like it's the cool thing to blame everything you disagree with on white privilege. In this case, you're just wrong. Sorry about it but that's the truth.

What's fascinating is that you're attacking me for saying that @Florin was being insensitive about people's lives by saying that the number of cases don't matter. You then blamed my opinion on white privilege when you basically said that the virus needs to run its course for the sake of herd immunity.  What communities are disproportionately affected by covid-19? Black and brown communities. So I guess you're saying that black and brown folks should die disproportionately so we can all have herd immunity.

Is that what you're saying because that's what it sounds like?

Don’t put words in my mouth. Herd immunity will happen whether states stays closed or reopen early. It WILL happen. Your ignorance in the plight of the poorer states speaks volumes for what kind of a person you are. What states struggles with is reopening now or later. Some don’t have choices.

so while you mouth off, some people’s livelihoods are affected. Especially minority groups. What are your plans? Stay closed and let the poor and homeless population die off? Ignorance must hurt doesn’t it?

It helps, but we will never know all the people who have the virus, because most people are asymptomatic or show little symptoms.

There is more valuable information around, including who are the categories we should protect. Protect those categories and the deaths wont happen.

I'm sorry but that's just what I understood from what you said.

You keep saying that I'm ignorant of plight of poor people but you would actually be wrong. You are making assumptions without any data support them.

And again, I did not say that these states had any choice. You continue to argue with me about something I never actually said. What I did say is that the government should be bailing out its people instead of corporations. Just because the government chooses not to do that doesn't make me ignorant.

And as a person not involved in public policy making, there's really nothing I can do. Unless there's a mess revolt and a general strike, then everyone is at the mercy of the people who got elected into the legislature.

But as I said when I made my first post, the number of cases do matter contrary to @Florin's belief. Just because they choose to believe that they don't doesn't mean everybody shares the same thought.

I don’t think much will be done with testing  until Democrats control both houses. States are on their own for now. Bills that are proposed by both leadership can’t be agreed on.

No disagreement with the idea that there are certain subsets of people who should be protected.

At any rate, seeing the number of cases and their trends is actually important when they are determining what phases to enter into or maybe even retreat back to with regard to face covering policy, capacity and whether or not some activities should be prohibited (concerts, gyms, bars, etc, etc).

No. If you change the way you are testing then you cant compare the numbers with the ones when you tested people based on other conditions.

There are other indicators more important, like hospital beds.

I don't know (off topic btw, hi hi hi sorry) but if you look at the oceanic temperature anomalies right now they are very very eerily similar to 2005. I'm in FL (as well I'm assuming you are as well) so I'm expecting it to be a very active hurricane season. The steering is going to be so imperative this year.

The dust from the Sahara blowing over the ocean is stopping real storms from forming atm but when the season started, like 5 days in and we already had 6 named storms :flop: and there's no El Niño this year supposedly so yeah...we're gonna get wrecked at least once :flop:

It's kinda on topic? We're talking about Florida :oprah: and Rona will definitely have an impact on how our response to hurricanes go. Usually, our state can pull in resources from surrounding states but we can't this year because those states need those resources and getting everything around with the pandemic is going to be neigh impossible :bradley:

Basically, Florida is hosed this year :flower: it's been nice knowing you guys :vegas:

Just based on SAL, development looks much more likely after we get to the end of June/Early July. We'll definitely be seeing something in FL before August. :flop:

nvm covid-deniers amaze me

We should put them next to climate change deniers, flat earthers, and antivaxxers and exterminate them all tbh. Society shouldnt have to be forced to deal with their stupidity.

Franch Toast

No one is saying don't reopen. We're saying:

Wear your f*cking masks, and wear them correctly! Keep physically distant from people not in your household. Don't go out just for the sake of going out.

Young, healthy people have died from this. Young, healthy people have survived this but with long-lasting consequences. There is still so much we don't know about this virus. It's not "just the flu." If it was just the flu, countries wouldn't be shutting down their economies.

Please don't play roulette with your and other people's lives. If you want the economy to stay open, be smart about things.

People on this site have friends and family members who've died from this illness. Show some empathy and intelligence.
