What should have the lead single been? Or was Perfect Illusion the right choice?

I guess it doesn't really matter

I think A-Yo or John Wayne would have been received better, but PI is a good choice, too, as it still had the same high-energy feel as other leads of her

Just Another Day, as it would’ve been a logical stepping stone from C2C to Joanne.

Perfect Illusion. Perfect choice for Joanne.

John Wayne would have been a good lead single for the album.

It’s the song that tries to merge ElectronicGa and CountryGa the hardest and it would’ve been a great introduction for the album. It’s poppy and crazy enough for her old fans, while hinting at a country sound that will be further explored with her next singles.

Million Reasons. It's a song that explains very well the sound and the concept of the album. Then Joanne as a promo single, then Perfect Illusion as a second single and finally John Wayne.

Diamond Heart/A-Yo

Could make a cool thing out of the double release by it feeling like a classic single, having an A side and a B side.

Then Million Reasons/John Wayne around the album release.

Cheeky holidays promo single with Come To Mama (Christmas Bells Mix) / A cover of Dream A Little Dream of Me

big break for a bit, superbowl and Grammys are decent enough promotion for the gap, along with news coming in about ASIB

Then coachella happens, I reckon either Perfect Illusion or Dancin In Circles/ The Cure, ready for the summer

Then release Joanne when she did but maybe package it as Joanne/ Angel Down, just to round the era odd nicely.

I know 8 seems like a mad amount of singles but after the double lead, each release would have a focus on one of the singles but still gives a little bit of exposure to another song on the album, and if something happens to take off then it's a bonus. Low/next to no budget videos for most of them wouldn't have been too much of an issue because they would have suited the stripped back sound - Joanne's was fine

Don't get me started on this era, I love it but I think it could have gone way further
