Does Ava Max & Katy Perry Have The Future Idea On Albums?

In the age of streaming I feel like albums are increasingly irrelevant or unnecessary in some ways. They became a thing last century cuz since u bought music physically it made sense to give one full piece of work

Now a compilation with a theme is still cool so I'm not saying it isn't still an option and if an artist wants to make specific eras, an album is still a cool way to go

But standalone singles I think are becoming more and more feasible and Ava Max is proof of how u can kind have a career just releasing singles

Katy Perry didn't have as much success in her standalone singles but to he fair, she was already facing big commercial decline in her witness era before she did standalone singles so it doesn't mean it doesn't work

I'm pretty sure they didn't do it on purpose. Ava's singles, besides SBP, haven't sticked with the GP and her label hasn't allowed her to release the album which she said was already finished. They're trying so hard to give her another hit.

Katy was trying to get a new hit since 365, but none of them did, and apparently there's already an album being released very soon.

But maybe, as you say, it's the future of music. Maybe artists will start making playlist with standalone singles on streaming services, and those will be a new form of albums. Although I believe artists will keep creating body of works in the future.

I like the excitement of having an album with lots of unheard tracks and playing it for the first time.

I also like the defined eras of an album cycle where you typically wrap up with a tour. It feels more complete if that makes sense.

Singles in between albums are always nice though.

She has a career? :poot:

Ok all shade aside I don’t think the concept of albums are archaic, I think it’s still relevant form of collective media like reading a new novel, or watching a season of a tv show, the sense of anticipation will always be there. Plus I don’t think we’ve seen an artist where the constant drip feed of standalone songs always receive chart success.

Uh Red Wine... Convict... Gah Gah...

Wait, how does Ava "have a career" when she is trying so hard to get noticed? That is just beyond me. :oprah:

Also, I disagree. And both of these people are very poor example on trends at making cute little singles to keep their career going. This stuffs more prominent on hip hop community, with the rise of soundcloud aka mumble raps and their trap tunes. Lots of example already over the year, the latest one being Da Baby who is currently main competitor to Gaga on US Charts. But still, even these one hit mumble rappers releases an album, because that is how record labels make money. While artists ride on the hype to get income on their own by selling merchs and concert tickets.

Not to be rude but being a one hit wonder isn't exactly a "career", is it?

If Ava doesn't have some sort of success soon, she's going to be dropped by her label. She announced a new single then deleted the announcement post and acts like she never said it... She needs to release an album ASAP

I didn't say they are the future tho, I only asked if they have the right idea of where things are going in the future :toofunny:
