Guest
I don't agree with him using it so freely and it being brushed off, but I'm also of the mindset that it's clear the the reason he is so free to use it - to me - is because he grew up ingrained in a lot of black communities, who have permitted it. Shaking that off is very difficult, especially if you grew up mostly around black people. You can pretend that hanging out with someone that their manner of speaking and vocabulary doesn't rub off on you, and it's used in ways similarly to "bro" and "dude", especially among younger black guys. I think it's extremely unnecessary to have him include it in his songs, though. That's already its own hot button issue. Kendrick Lamar had a girl on stage to rap with him and she used that word when it popped up in the song and did not like it when she did. He stopped the song and called her out. Meanwhile, you get rappers like 6ix9ine including it in his lyrics. I think you're lying to yourself if you listen to an artist so much and that's in their lyrics and you claim you "skip" that word when it comes on. But I also disagree that Nicki should be policing him. I think she was more-so reeling him in because he was talking so much s*** about Meek.

The problem is that his audience are mostly white teens and when they see that he's saying the n word and she's not telling him to stop, it's giving them the wrong impression that they actually can say that and it's ok, maybe for her is fine that he's saying that, but in private, she has responsibility regarding the use of the n word by non black people in that certain public platform. This is how I see it, but I could be wrong. And i completely understand that but let's not put this on the black woman to educate the white people. We've told non-black people for decades not to use the word and it's done nothing. His fans are going to say it regardless of what Nicki or 69 does. My issue with this thread is the way it was set up and I don't feel like the right people are being attacked.
britneygaga99 359
People who fight against racism are trying to figure out how to properly pigeonhole Hispanic people (White? Non-white? Black?) in order to determine whether or not they’re allowed to use a racial slur, AND at the same time bashing Nicki for not reacting to that slur the way they want her to. I'm not saying I think it's okay for her to say it, but it was an invite by him. Should've picked a different song or a different person imo. 7 minutes ago, Suuus said: What do you mean he isnt white He's Latino.

It's in the lyrics to someone who they clearly follow passionately enough. I sing every word of every artist I listen to. No matter what the word is. I think people who claim otherwise on the internet are lying to save face, more often than not.

My issue with this thread is the way it was set up and I don't feel like the right people are being attacked. First of all I completely see what you mean and my first reply didn’t even mention Nicki because I don’t feel she’s the problem. Second.. I disagree with that “black people don’t need to and shouldn’t educate people.” Yes they do and they should. They are the ones that know their struggles the best. I am muslim and I as a muslim women feel the need and responsibility to educate people about what’s right and what’s not right in islam. Like I said Nicki is irrelevant to this topic tho but she as a black woman shouldn’t be okay with this. White man saying n word is not acceptable in any way or form and she as his black friend who actually could influence him more than any of us should be the one to tell him that what he’s doing is not okay. Also the problem I see here that is more than dangerous is “n word pass.” I see that every day and I’ve been seeing it a lot! There are black people on twitter and instagram who legit claim that he has the pass to use that word because he understands black people. Like what?! That lowers the meaning of the world and to be frank it makes it seem like a joke. Like it’s some kind of recognition that you can earn and use after that.. It’s not that. It shouldn’t be that. It’s disrespectful to black people.

It’s disrespectful to black people. didn't even see your comment as i was only replying to the user who quoted me. Thank you though and your thoughts are appreciated BUT you're not black so you really don't have a say in how we react to these things in these situations. Be mad at him for saying it but don't sit there and tell us what we need to do in these circumstances. We have our own voices and will use them to call out things that need to be called out. And no Nicki is not irrlevant to this topic considering she's in the topic title and shares the focus of OP. Be outraged with him, go tweet him but don't get mad cause she, or any other black person, isn't reacting the way YOU want us to. It's kind of irritating here how people think it's our job to educate these people. I promise you he know's he isn't supposed to say it. His non-black fans know they're not supposed to say it either. This is like if you were out with a gay guy and some ass uses the f word. You wouldn't poke you're Gay friend and be like "Hey, are you going to tell him not to say that? You're supposed to tell him not to say that." No. It's up to the gay person to decide what they want to do since they're the ones being directly effected by the word. --------Random thoughts below on this subject. Not a response to you @Regina George--------- Like I said a few posts ago, I'm beyond grateful that people are all of a sudden waking up to the injustices we face everyday but I think many of our allies and advocates seem to cross the line on certain things. Mainly with how we're supposed to react to these things. I don't know Nicki personally but as a black man raised around other black people, I know some black people are okay with others saying the N-word. I myself am not and am a strong believer in don't say it unless you're black, no exceptions. I can't speak for Nicki cause i'm not her. If y'all really want to cancel this man and not make it about Nicki then stop giving him attention. Don't stream his work. Once again, and I can't stress this enough, please know y'alls place and stop trying to speak for us.

It’s ethnicity. 😬 He is a white hispanic man aka a white man with Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanishculture or origin.
