Marry the Night is about Gaga's sexual assault

Based on the story depicted in the music video, it appears she was sexually assaulted and then dropped from her record label (we all know she was dropped from Def Jam).

In the beginning of the music video we see her in what appears to be a hospital, she cries as she tells the doctor: "I'm going to be a star...because I have nothing left to lose." We see her back is badly bruised. She then appears to go home, and gets a call on the phone where she angrily shouts (I believe) "but I'm an artist!" in French, and then she starts trashing her room and crying.

We later see her butt on the roof of a vehicle, she is hanging upside down with the rest of her body inside the vehicle. There are bruises on her back. When we see her face dangling inside the vehicle, her facial expressions make her look like she is in pain. There is the lyric "poke holes in the seats with my heels, 'cause that's where we make love," which seems to allude to having sex in a car, but could also be a clever way of describing her sexual assault. She blows up the car at the end of the music video.

Throughout the music video she seems to build herself back up, through learning how to dance, making and wearing funky outfits, busting her ass carrying her music equipment up and down the stairs (I believe there is also an allusion to the development of her eating disorder, in a short clip we see her rush into a bathroom stall at one point), being kind and spending time with friends, and eventually she gets what looks like a promising phone call. We see at the end of the music video, she is riding in the back seat of a car with the information for "Interscope Records" written on her hand. She is still signed with Interscope today.

I think the lyrics combined with the music video could very much allude to her addressing her sexual assault, then accepting and embracing the fact that she was sexually assaulted, coming back to herself, and moving on with her life and her career.

Considering all I've said here, watch the Marry the Night music video for yourself:

EDITED TO DELETE ANY ACCUSATORY REMARKS I INITIALLY MADE.

The speculation about her sexual assault that has happened on this forum as of late is downright disrespectful. Yes, Marry The Night's video is very obviously about her recovering from sexual assault and getting dropped to Def Jam and it's okay to analyze that. To speculate who is her abuser is and name people's name, with no evidence, when Gaga doesn't feel comfortable sharing that is not okay.

Lady Gaga doesn't owe us anything

Mmm this feel a bit inappropriate to discuss given the fact that she stated before she’s not ready to name her abuser yet...

...but then again this is the fanbase that managed to broke into her home and call her mommy so what do we know about personal space

This. Analyzing art she releases is completely fine, and with what we know today, it’s pretty evident that this is what the video is about, but accusing people and claiming things that gaga didn’t feel like disclosing and could unfairly harm the reputation of potentially innocent people is not okay.

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

Why are you so obsessed? :triggered:

Watching and interpreting a music video is an obsession? We're literally on a Gaga forum.. isn't that kind of the point?

I have edited the post to remove my accusations based on my opinion, and left only my interpretation of her art. I understand and regret that my doing that was out of line and disrespected her own decision not to name her assailant.

this ain't about MTN video is about you making assumptions on a delicate topic, you made another thread that got closed for that exact same reason, we been knew about the meaning behind MTN sure, you wanna talk about it but there you go making a guess that is LA Reid now who raped Gaga, you were so sure about Fusari being her rapist in the other thread

get over it, you ain't in the position to put your Nancy Drew suit on this topic

I'm done with people talking so lightly about it, it's such a personal thing, not approved :bye:

This person has made another similar thread and deleted it, they obviously want attention in a disgusting way.

I don't think she would reference sexual assault with "make love", that would be really... wrong :oprah:

I edited this post to remove that information and the other post was as you said closed, I would have deleted it  now as well if it hadn't been, as yes I was speculating a ton and I can totally admit that was wrong of me to post about. I was not 100% convinced of anything in the prior post, I was doing a ton of speculating and there were regrettably several names I discussed.

I would like to discuss the Marry the Night video in particular, as the majority of my post was and now is about the story it depicts visually and through the lyrics.

I recognize I was out of line in the previous post and initially in this one and I hope I have corrected it.
