shane_c 480
Carino or Troy. Troy fits because it comes early in the album and he wanted her to be commercial like The Fame but she wanted to be more artistic so she said 'goodbye' and fired him. BillieGOAT 5,216
From my first listen I have been convinced that it’s about her relationship with her fans/fame and how she wants to be a strong woman and please us but we’re never satisfied
rain on me 222
didn't gaga say "when you listen to this song, imagine you're singing to yourself"
Sarah H 3,668
I think it's deliberately a bit ambiguous. It could be about an ex, which is what I thought but it fits other people too.
joannesrats 26
YALL she literally said it’s about her going out with her friends. They’re trying to make her feel better but it isn’t working. She said that in her Zane Lowe interview.

LadyInsecto 366
She literally said in an interview that the song is about a former partner who was obsessed with her fame more than she is.
Ashley 9,430
I think from the wording of the song it’s obvious she’s singing about/to someone else. Spoiler There were also some instances where it seemed like he was parading her in front of the paparazzi Then there was that bizarre photo op of them hiking in the woods and he shoved her in the car when they were done. I can’t find the video but I’m sure some of y’all remember that. Anyway this is just purely speculation and trying to dissect Fun Tonight, so take with a grain of salt. MonsterofFame 1,785
Um guys... it's about multiple people in classic Gaga style. One of the people is probably Carino. Specifically: You love the paparazzi, love the fame Even though you know it causes me pain ... And if I scream, you walk away When I'm sad, you just wanna play I've had enough, why do I stay? What makes me say this is Carino was actually looking for attention from Gaga's fans on Instagram during the breakup. He was pulling a Taylor Swift by posting photos with vague captions alluding to the breakup. I remember reading him reply to some comments with things that were clearly about Gaga or their relationship. I couldn't believe that a 50 year old man was looking for attention from Gaga fans. He also has a blue checkmark on Instagram so clearly he wants his status to be known.
Juniper 972
Nnnn. It’s so funny how some of you are convinced it’s about Carino when you also complained about how he wanted to drag her away and looked angry every time they were out in public as if he hated the paparazzi. Personally, I really doubt she’d write a song specifically about him. It’s not shade as if he’s unimportant, I just think this is about lots of feelings and experiences. Gaga has always said she wanted to be famous. I know she said “fame is prison” but she obviously loves to be seen and to perform. So I would rather go with the idea that she’s in a love-hate relationship with the fame and the paparazzi in this song.

It wasn’t a quote from her. And I think it was rolling stone’s own journalist who made that assumption. Either from the internet or listening to the song. RAMROD 109,525
I think it is many people. This is her own experience , her own story. There are a lot happened, she met alot of people and she can finally feel she can be open about it. Waad 93
1 hour ago, Reed said: Gaga never admits when a song is about a person really. So it’s easier to say it’s a reflection of herself, but I think it’s about Carino Yeh one of the producers said in an interview that it’s about an ex and his obsession with her fans & fame !!! I think it’s also her talking to herself though
