Ryusei 61,025
Great documentary btw. I watched it yesterday and it really connected the dots for me and made me understand so many things. Musery
IcePrincess 2,787
This video is supposed to evoke emotions and it's a lot of manipulation. Is there racism in America? Yes Is it at the level of the one in the 50-60s? Absolutely not.
tomsches 17,373
I watched this documentary last week and I cried during this part of the movie. I was aware that racism still exists, but the scope of it really broke my heart. I've been with my boyfriend, who is afro-american, for 9 months now and he showed me so much of the daily struggles he has to go through, still. Everyone needs to see this movie! Yes Is it at the level of the one in the 50-60s? Absolutely not. The keyword is "parallels." Have things gotten better since the 50s and 60s? Sure, relatively speaking it has gotten better. That said, we are FAR from ideal. Racism is still very much prevalent, and just because we're not fighting for the right to vote, fighting for Black people to be in the same restaurants as white people, etc. doesn't mean that we cannot still fight for a more equal country. History is important. Look at it so that we don't regress. Unfortunately though, we have regressed. It is imortant to look back at our history (which by the way, wasn't even that long ago) and learn about the injustices that have happened and are still happening. People today may not be as overtly racist as they were before, but today we are living in a society that systematically oppresses Black people and POC that tries to cover that up as the "norm." 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎

Black lives are still being taken away for no reason, black people still being denied equal opportunities, still being systematically excluded and oppressed and discriminated against. Y'all need to start asking yourselves the right questions instead of the wrong ones. "I was protected by the monks of Azarath, I was raised by my friends. IcePrincess 2,787
I just don't like the extremist approach. Racism exists in the US and I have not questioned it anywhere. There are some areas where blacks have problems - I agree. But there is also the other side of the coin, many POC say that they live great and have a lot of success, many black people say that BLM does not make sense in this form. Let's not force the "only right method". A black stoned criminal George Floyd buried in a golden casket and a crying mayor above his casket. Nobody bothered over the coffins of people who died in the riots. Nobody wept over the people who were robbed of their assets. His death is better than theirs. This was only done so that the media and riots would calm down a little. Yes - George's funeral was used for political games. I just stand in the middle and admit voices from every political side - that's what life is about. Everything else is utopia. When such presentations are allowed in America, some things go too far

I just stand in the middle and admit voices from every political side - that's what life is about. Everything else is utopia When we're talking about racism and systematic oppression, I'm sorry, but there is one and only one side. Quite frankly, I'm tired of this, "Oh, let's just all get along! We all have differing opinions, that's fine!" rhetoric. Like, no. Racism is not a debate. Bigotry is not a debate. There are no "differeing opinions." There are people who rightfully fight against racism and oppression, and there are those who wrongfully don't. History doesn't look favorably at those who either sat idle or who were on the wrong side of a war. Also, let me just say this: the POC who live great lives and have a lot of success are also privileged. I'm Filipino, but my parents, for example, are ultra conservative. They don't see a reason for the protests, they think it's all stupid, they heavily support Trump, they don't care about Black Lives Matter, etc. They are privleged people. They wouldn't be saying sh*t like that if they were a poor Black family in America. It's all circumstance, and unfortunately, people's own circumstances blind them to the reality that is this "great country." As for George Floyd, his death represents something more than just his own. It represents the oppression and discrimination of Black people in this country for literal centuries. Have you seen the video of him pleading for air? If you haven't, I urge you to watch it. It gives some perspective into what Black people and other POC in this country have experienced. And that's only a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of what they've experienced. I agree that sometimes it's necessary to be "in the middle" in a lot of situations, but this is not that kind of an issue. You're either right or wrong when it comes to recognizing the racism in this country. It's as simple as that. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎

When such presentations are allowed in America, some things go too far “Many black people say that” Then why are there so many black people protesting for their lives in this moment? Successful celebrities included (because despite their wealth, they still felt or even feel the sting of systematic racism). And these “whataboutisms” are, ironically on your part, so political. This isn’t about one person’s death being better than another’s. It’s about the death symbolized. Were we all just gonna standby and let another life by taken by police with no accountability. It doesn’t matter what kind of record he had what kind of person he was... HIS LIFE WAS WRONGFULLY TAKEN BY THE VERY SYSTEM THAT IS MEANT PROTECT US. And, see, that’s exactly the type of reaction to black lives matter that is so frustrating. It’s that knee jerk “All Lives Matter” thing that people come up with because they feel like a certain group of people is getting too much attention and too much “unwarranted credit.”

Because white and Asian children born in poor families are such a rarity in America? Every white gets an iPhone, 2 villas and a car after the birth package. Many black families in America live in slums and still making more babies, some of them do not want education, do not want to grow, just want money from the government. Lots of black, white, asians just work really hard to get out of this poverty. Some black people do not do this and then they shout how injured they have the right to steal some of this white privileged man's belongings. And how do you know that he himself was not born in extreme poverty and came to everything alone? The problem of lack of education in some black people exists. Of course, this should be leveled, but there is a budgeting limit beyond which the results will not improve. Some people are so comfortable, live with the support of the state, complain about how uncomfortable they are (Here I abstract from the race, I talk about everyone) Why all Asian statistics do not correlate with black statistics. Most black people die at the hands of black people and this is a fact.

Your “justification” that violence against black people is not “at the level” as it was in the 50-60s is appalling. To have the audacity to compare moments in time when black people have suffered greatly as if it’s not worth the fight. F*ck right off.
