A Fried Egg

Pose (stylized as POSE) is an American drama television series about New York City's African-American and Latino LGBTQ and gender-nonconforming ballroom culture scene in the 1980s and, in the second season, early 1990s. Featured characters are dancers and models who compete for trophies and recognition in this underground culture, and who support one another in a network of chosen families known as Houses.

It's been a while since a show has me touched me so much. I teared up all through season 1, what a journey that was! When it comes to queer shows, I've never been able to take in RuPaul's Drag Race like my other friends. But Pose is my type of show; it's not all shiny and polished, it feels real. It's also not just gay for the sake of being gay, it's got everything else too- love, family, friendship, racism, identity, body image etc. and an emphasis on the trans communities of the 80s and 90s. I'm so glad Ryan Murphy (and the casting director) put together a cast of different races and made racism is one of the core themes, it's about time transgendered PoC had some representation and are HUMANIZED on television, and that we address the racism that is so prevalent in our community.

The show truly emanates the love, kindness and most importantly, bravery that Gaga is always talking about. (Unlike the gays on RPDR who are way too mean for my taste :interestinga:

If you haven't seen it, I urge you give a couple of episodes a watch.

Not related but for GGD gamers: My favorite League of Legends Youtuber is Luminum. She's a transgender grandmaster support player who's just really entertaining. Her channel is very unique- a lovely blend of gay culture and gaming. Check her out. :flutter:

I love the show so much, it holds a very special place in my heart and I hope to see a third season soon ! Growing up I wish I could’ve seen a similar show, it would’ve been so helpful, educational, but I’m so glad it exists now ! Do y’all know similar shows ?

I have to admit that, sometimes, it was really hard to watch, I cried so much watching this series ´cause I identified so deeply with the characters but as a transwoman myself, I had never felt more understood, it really helped me gain more confidence too ! I’m so grateful this show gave me an opportunity to know more about the struggles the LGBT community went through.

Yes! So good, but it's known that Ryan Murphy's shows go downhill by the third season so I hope that season 3 is good and their final one to end on a good note.

The show is great and S1 is one of the best thing Ryan Murphy has done.

First season was amazing, well worth the watch. The Second season to me felt a little off in some parts but still overall good.
