" Over the decades, no credible analyst has cast the 1994 crime bill as the trigger for mass incarceration. The evidence does show that the 1994 bill was part of a trend that was already underway. To vet Biden’s statement, we have to ask if the bill’s role was as small as he suggests. We found many factors drove mass incarceration, including trends in the states that predated the 1994 law. But the law was in sync with those trends and may have encouraged them." Our ruling Biden said his 1994 crime bill "did not generate mass incarceration." In the strictest sense, the law did not launch the massive rise in the prison population. But it was in keeping with pre-existing trends at the state level, and in a limited way, provided funds to expand and keep policies in place that would increase the number of people behind bars. At the same time, the crime bill funded other programs and made changes aimed at keeping people out of prison. We rate Biden's claim Half True. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2019/may/30/joe-biden/joe-biden-1994-crime-bill-mass-incarceration/ Also, the other provisions do matter and did wonders, you dont get to sweep them away just because they dont support your agenda, because theyll be the first things you bring up when I say that Bernie Sanders voted yes on the bill. I never said that Biden's crime bill is completely responsible for mass incarceration... But it certainly contributed to it! His staunch support and complicity in policies that have aided mass incarceration is all but disqualifying. Your source supports my argument much more than it supports yours, so I'm unsure what you thought you were doing there. LOL. No, I will not bring up those other provisions if you invoke Bernie. Bernie made a bad vote, yes, but he at least was critical of the elements of the bill that enforced the "tough on crime" agenda. Biden, on the other hand, professed the "tough on crime" agenda like it was the bible. There is a difference. Moreover, Bernie has much stronger policies regarding institutionalized racism, law enforcement, and mass incarceration than Biden does. With these combined factors, yes, I did calculate that supporting Bernie was the correct thing to do for me. You have still failed to make an argument in favor of Joe Biden without invoking other politicians so that you can say Biden is slightly less terrible. It really is sad. Admit that Biden is terrible and still vote for him, but do not pretend that he is something that he is not. Again, as I've said, I still may vote for Biden if he has a serious policy concession regarding health care or climate, but what he has proposed is not nearly good enough for me. He should want to win my vote.

I did not correctly word my statement and I take responsibility for that. Biden's policies contributed to, but were not solely responsibly for, the system of mass incarceration that we have in our society today. Still does not change the fact that the bill was terrible and should be all but disqualifying. Side note: It is not a good look for your argument when you get backed into a corner and have to run to mommy.

Why do the choices have to all be so problematic, pedophilic, creepy, etc.? What politicians are out here genuinely fighting for racial justice not only in politics but in their heart as well? Where are they? This is such a frustrating election. US's democratic election system is a perfect illusion.
