Bra chromatica still top 10 on AM US (+1 #9) is kinda huge imo. ASIB did not do that, and that was Gaga’s biggest album on AM by far.

If Nicki had played her cards right and campaigned hard, she could’ve been nominated for a Grammy for the Say So remix but she decided to throw it all away. I wonder if she has a publicist or someone to help her? Or she simply does not care?

echt nett von Ihnen zu hören! Lustigerweise habe ich eine Email ähnlicher Couleur von einem Ihrer Kollegen vor ein paar Wochen zum Lady Gaga Release bekommen!

 

Ich freue mich als Geschäftsführer hier bei Universal Music natürlich über derlei Mails, muss Ihnen aber leider mitteilen, dass ich keine Zeit habe, diese immer ausführlich zu beantworten.

Zum Editorial-Placement bei unseren Streamingpartnern kann ich Ihnen allerdings sagen, dass es sich hier um redaktionelle Inhalte handelt, bei denen sich die Plattformen die Entscheidung über Position und Playlistenplatzierungen ausschliesslich vorbehalten.

 

Wir haben allerdings mit dem Song alle wichtigen Playlisten bei Spotify inclusive der „Top Hits Deutschland“ – ich weiss also nicht wirklich, was Sie hier vermissen.

 

Im Radio ist der Song auch bereits auf Platz 22 in den Trendcharts.

 

Und: das Potential eines so tollen Songs, noch dazu von zwei unserer wichtigsten Künstlerinnen, ist uns absolut bekannt und wir geben Vollgas seit der ersten Minute!

I've written another email and they answered me  Basically: they got a similar email a few weeks ago () he's happy I contacted him and they're doing what the can to place the song well, but the playlists are editorial and, therefore, out of their reach. Further down he says that they already placed ROM on Top Hits Deutschland and on other big playlists, so he doesn't really know what else to do. Lastly he says that ROM is #22 on German radio trends and they know the huge potential of the song and will do everything they can to make it succeed.

Perfect Illusion is not perfect, but far from being bad.

The Hot 100 is SO broken, it drives me insane! The fact that "All I Want for Christmas Is You" is likely to reach #1 every year when it was released decade*s* ago is not enough of a sign that it no longer measures the true market penetration / consumption? Imagine if the Charts in 1999-2001 were a battle between which fanbase had enough stamina and finger strength to consistently eject + insert BSB vs. NSYNC CDs? It's sad that we come here every day to argue over how many people had Chromatica at .01 volume on loop.

Don't Start Now had a nostalgic organic rise on the Charts, but it's clear that songs released late '19 were able to explode on radio pre-Covid and because of a drop in new music, are now clogging up the Top 20. I have supported Radio as a metric since GP reception is still accounted for; but in the 'good ole days,' a solid lead like DSN would be phased out for follow-up singles. DSN, Adore You, Blinding Lights... why are these being played after the release of Physical, Break My Heart, In Your Eyes, Watermelon Sugar? 

The crash of debut #1s (which were rare through as recently as 2011) outside the top 10 is a pathetic indication of the Charts decline in accuracy. That said, Rain On Me going #1 - #5 - #10 is really incredible when you compare it to the typical trajectory and with all signs pointing to large support from Radio down the line. #8 vs. #10 doesn't matter to me, but I would be upset to see it fall out of the Top 10 as its cross-metric success at the moment is fantastic.
