You're an American, right? Excuse me for my ignorance, but as an European citizen, I feel like the aspect of the right to keep and bear firearms in the USA is missing in the debates on police brutality. Doesn't that make the situations between police officers and citizens - in general - more hostile, because sometimes it isn't clear if someone is carrying a gun or not? Isn't that part of the problem as well? What is your view on that?

In my country, police officers are way more friendly and I feel like the relationship between citizens and officers is based on trust and peace here - force is only used in escalated situations.

(I know it's hasn't anything to do with this particalur case per se, so I'm sorry if this is not the right time to discuss, but I feel like there are more aspects part of the problem).

I think people here are done with the complete and total lack of accountability the police have. They get away with this s@#$ time and again. And at this point, there is nothing else to do but raise hell. Nothing else works. If 1 death like George Floyd can spark such a national outcry and response, maybe cops will think twice before acting? I just fear there is nothing that can be done to fix it. Maybe in decades when the old guard racists die off, but our generation won't see it cured. Very sad stuff.

Aren't there any other politicians who aren't white, violence gloryfing men in grandpa's age in the US?:saladga:  I mean there surely must be considerate, compassionate and actual educated politicans representing younger and diverse people somewhere?

Nobody votes for them, the american media doesn't help either educating americans in an objective analytical and intelligent way. The US elections are a circus/reality tv show, only those who have no advantage and are oppressed take it seriously

No worries, that's a good associated issue & it’s definitely fair since American gun culture is different from other countries.

I would agree with you regarding what was call “concealed carry”, which is the idea people are allowed to carry guns in public of they are not in open view (so like in a pocket or bag). Joe Biden & the Democrats are starkly opposed to that for the reason you mentioned. Concealed carry is illegal in many many states.

Similarly, most Democrats oppose “open carru”, which is when people are allowed to carry guns in public but they MUST be visible. This is becoming somewhat more bipartisan because it is considered safer, as exactly, police & others can clearly see “that person is armed”. The pushback by some progressives gun opponents are that it makes people feel unsafe.

Generally, Democrats (like Biden) are supportive of gun control.

With this situation, some alternative views about guns would be by Killer Mike. He is an American rapper turned political advocate who is apart of BLM & also pro gun though. I suggest hearing his videos online. I’m typically anti gun, but he raises important points about how gun ownership can defend minorities.

Just food for thought. Send me any more questions you have. Explaining American’s gun tendencies is difficult honestly.

I have the feeling that Biden doesn't want to win. :ohwell: First he gets undercover and barely says anything during corona crisis and then this:saladga:

Donald Trump is now going to be president for second time

that was clear when Benrie Sanders was overtaken by Biden and is even more clear now

Your boyfriend comes over with a bit of gun oil Says he wants to step on new soil

I said senile Democratic establishment, hun, which you are not apart of. When I say establishment, I'm referring to Washington and the media, not the common voter. You've slandered me as rancid, Trumpian, and a "Burnout" supporter with a vapid agenda, but haven't actually said anything that attempts to dispute my points.

It's really brave of you to accuse progressives of spewing platitudes in defense of Decorum Democrats... y'know, the people who now praise war-criminal Bush because he presented himself "presidential" in one video.

Progressive convictions may have become cliche to you, but at least we speak on policy. All Decorum Democrats speak on is table manners, Trump being bad (which accomplishes nothing because, well, we been knew), and how much they long to go back to Obama cuz he "made them feel good" (which comes across as a giant **** you to the millions who's lives remained undignified under that administration)

I am interested in governing as a progressive and only registered Democrat in 2019 to support the movement electorally. Had it not been for progressives, I would not be involved in electoral politics at all. I've decided to remain Democrat to vote in progressives who run as (D) locally, but I am not a Democrat.

As a Californian, I have the privilege of sitting out presidential politics if I so choose, which is why I won't be voting Biden November 3rd. That is my decision and mine alone and I refuse to judge or shame anyone for coming to a different conclusion.

"Progressive" or another litmus-test buzz word that can mean f@#$-all you want it to.

But you said all I needed to hear to know where you're coming from. Sit on the sidelines and continue to exercise your right to not participate. We're out here trying to get s@#$ done. As imperfect as it may be. ✌

This thread is proof that trump will win in November by a landslide. I don't want to see any "liberals" complaining if he becomes dictator and takes each and every one of your rights and privileges away. 'Murica.

How about using tasers instead and only shooting if its life or death like they do here in Australia? I really want Biden in and Trump out, but f*ck Biden never says the correct thing.

I see his point, but that's like putting a cherry on top of a mountain of ****. The american internal security system seems to need thorough reform to work properly.

Inequality should be tackled first, with lots of affirmative actions for blacks. Officers should be trained to see citizens as allies, not the enemy, and to only use guns as last resort. After good results have been achieved in those areas, both the population and the police would need to be gradually disarmed, save specific circumstances (fighting terrorists, drug lords, etc.). More women everywhere in the security system would also help a lot.

Plenty of countries run their police forces like that and it works just fine:

Lmfao, you're right, progressive is a subjective. As the incomparable Amy Klobuchar once said, "I'm a progressive who can get stuff done." :triggered: Quite frankly, I don't care for the label "progressive" either, but you know who I'm talking about and that's all that matters.

Was hoping you might respond with an actual point but whatevs. Don't really understand how Biden supporters are going to get s@#$ done when y'all don't even know what he stands for. Who knows though -- given Trump's psychotic behavior the past few days, "Not Trump" might just be enough. I wish you luck. ✌
