A man was shot and killed in Louisville, Kentucky, after police said officers and the Kentucky National Guard "returned fire" on a group of people gathered outside a supermarket early Monday morning.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim or the law enforcement officers who killed the man. They also did not say if the man killed was the person they suspected of opening fire at police and national guard members.

However, family members told two local news outlets the man was David McAtee, the beloved chef and owner of a popular barbecue joint located next to the Dino's Food Mart.

Metro Council President David James also confirmed to BuzzFeed News that his longtime friend McAtee was the one who was killed.

McAtee, 53, was known to donate his time and food for several community events. He also used to feed police officers for free.

"He liked the police," James told BuzzFeed News. "He used to give the police free food while they were working. He talked to them all the time."

How many more people will be killed before the government does something

but no, right wing news won’t cover this. They’ll show the riots and say look at what the black people have done.

This is just Horrible.

I was reading that there's body cam footage that hasn't been released yet, I hope it incriminates them for what they did!

How does this keep happening? What do they learn in training?

The USA "land of the free" is an embarassment.

The USA is an embarrassment to the free world. Government need to step up and stop the violence, police brutality and racial injustice but they won’t.

I don’t think the USA will ever learn that guns aren’t a f*ing ‘right’ despite what your constitution might say - Coming from someone who lives in the U.K. I’ve only ever seen a gun in real life once, ONCE - and that was in the possession of an anti-terror police unit and it made me feel anything but safe. I can’t imagine how it must feel knowing that every other person you bump into on the street might be carrying a weapon of that sort.

ACAB. it seems like simple ****ing kindness does not matter to any of them anymore. **** those cops, do not defend them. please do not. if you have any respect for what black people went through in the past and what are going through now, do not ****ing defend cops.

I've seen enough bullshit from people on this site and let me say this: no justice = no peace and non-racist isn't equal to pro-BLM.

The NRA controls a lot of our senators and congressmen/women. It’s very difficult to pass ANY gun control.

I pray that they weaken in my lifetime.

shame

breaks my heart to know that police get to enjoy all these benefits and respect from their communities while at the same they are abusing their privilege against these same communities.
