He wants the destruction and looting to end.
He says that if he isn't out here wildin out, then no one else should be either.

This isn't JUST about his brother, but he said what he said.

Let's see if people listen.

Is anybody other than opportunistic white people with no care for what happened to George Floyd happy with it? :poot:

they won't listen. this isn't a conversation about george floyd anymore. this now a conversation about systematic racism. it's about the long list of victims of racially motivated police brutality that floyd was just an addition to.

he's the catalyst, not the whole conversation.

Yeah he's the catalyst but I don't blame his brother for making it about him tho

It's more personal for him atm and its natural for him to be focusing on his personal loss rather than the general issue

He probably wasn't thinking how it's coming across

Looting and property destruction aren't necessary. Peaceful protests are. For every window broken or person attacked, it gets thrown back exponentially on the PEACEFUL front line protestors in the form of physical violence.

He's a black person personally touched by the tragedy and racism.

If there's anyone I'm gonna listen to, it's him.

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

Most protestors disagree... But even the ones that feel it is necessary at least be more specific with the targets

I get how attacking police stations or other legal establishments are relevant, but a small business being burned is neither necessary nor relevant

If u think violence is necessary at least point it to the guilty specifically not random acts of destruction that will be felt by ppl who may have nothing to do with the problems at all (some could even be black themselves). Otherwise ur just using the same line of reasoning as terrorists

Jake Paul was down the street from me looting a luxury shopping mall during the mass confusion. If any of you think ANY part of that has to do with making a difference or righting a wrong, you can block my posts because discussions that involve critical thinking don't concern you. :ally:

we don't have control over a whole crowd and their personal experiences

we can't say when someone is teased by the police to stay calm and not react

because we don't have a centre figure like Martin Luther King

we can't control the cops and the KKK infiltrated trying to hijack the protest

we can't avoid the government staging fights by putting brick piles and what not in strategic places so the people use it

please economy don't compare reaction against oppresion to terrorism, you can do better than that :(

Again, these are two both require different forms of protests, which is why these protests are so divided.

Looting and riots will not solve or reduce systematic racism. No racist is going to watch people who stand behind BLM burn down their neighborhood and think “yeah I love black people now”. Violence does not reduce hatred. That is exactly why the far right and even far left (and supposedly under cover cops) are making sure violence is committed, so people can point their fingers at black people and get the country to hate them more.

Looting and riots however can get local governments to actually charge their violent cops with the charges they deserve and change their police requirements to have their cops go through more harsh racial and violence training. Lootings will not end systematic racism or even lower it.

Look I'm sorry if u don't agree but it's my genuine opinion. If you wanna be the better people promoting moral change u shouldn't act like animals attacking property at random cuz frankly that's what these severe acts look like (even if the anger itself is justified)

I believe in peaceful protests... But if you must go further, at least target the guilty of the problem you are protesting not innocent people

If you can't control your emotions that you feel you have to burn a small business to the ground whose owner may be completely innocent when your provoked then you probably shouldn't be protesting in the first place in that state of mind to begin with. Your putting innocent lives on the line by doing so cuz these heated protests are dangerous.

Racism is disgusting and it's totally justified for people to be very angry. But I do not believe justified anger in itself therefore gives anyone a free pass to do whatever they want no matter what that might be, especially when you start HURTING innocent people in the process. That is not ok

There's people who lost their livelyhoods because of that misdirected burst of anger that was not targeted in the right direction.

U can disagree with me. But I don't wanna hear anyone call me ignorant because I have valid reasons for feeling about the way I do just like you might have yours

Edit: It's nothing personal btw I like you as a user. But I don't see eye to eye in some aspects of the reasoning behind some of the justifications. At least not the targets chosen most of all

@Economy but they're not! the majority of people is there to protest peacefully

your feelings are warranted, violence isn't ideal and in a perfect world wouldn't happen. But you can't say to a people that's being brutalized that their act of unrulyness is abominable, you gotta first ask yourself who is this statement benefiting? is it the government or the people? discrediting is a way of making the fight look dull, it's the same as bringing up that Marsha didn't start the stonewall riots, yes, it might be true, but is it helping anyone in this current situation to know that? no, it's just knowledge devoid of sensibility

and the reason discredibility works so well is because WE KNOW it doesn't come as poison from your mouth, don't think we are happy to see the restaurant of a fellow GGD member's family being burned down, everyone wants peace, but we can't tolerate that type of speech when we are desperate for our lives already, being killed, and on top of that being told we're protesting like animals, if anything it will make things worse, it will backfire and make people more angry. No one will ever agree with the way people riot but on the other hand WAR is legal and completely constitutional.

don't expect everyone to have the same level of educational/psychological background as you do in order to be able to fight, this isn't realistic, and sometimes black people are even hindered from learning!

So your point is valid, but i hope you are also open to learn further from it
