You're literally part of Antifa wym Antifa is more of a self-ID sort of thing. Antifa has a flag and there are groups of people that work together and identify with each other under the name “Antifa”. I wouldn’t say it’s membership based, but groups of people that announce themselves as Antifa tend to comprise of people with more militant policies. Being anti-fascist is different from being militantly anti-fascist, although the two can coincide. Antifa is different from anti-fascism as a broad concept because it is militant. There can be a 1000 definitions for what ANTIFA means and all would be equally true/untrue. It's very similar to feminism and how 2 people can both consider themselves a "feminist" and still completely disagree with each other. The Wikipedia page, for one lol. Not the best place for research but it is there. I don’t understand the need for two names (Antifa vs. Anti-Fascist) if one isn’t intended to designate a particular group within the larger category of Anti-Fascists. You know what I mean? Antifa was a part of the German Communist Party that was against Hitler and the original Nazis, that's where the name comes from. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antifaschistische_Aktion

You're literally part of Antifa wym To clarify, when you look up Antifa and Anti-fascism, Antifa is described as a political activist movement while Anti-Fascism is a more generic “opposition to fascist ideologies”. Being Antifa seems to necessitate action or activism in some way, whereas Anti-Fascism doesn’t. When you add to that the fact that a lot of anti-fascists who utilize violence to achieve their goals carry the flag of Antifa and are in a group with other Anti-Fascists, then Antifa starts to become its own “group” of sorts. And Trump is identifying this group by those who fly the Antifa flag and cause violence, he’s not applying it to anti fascists in general, I believe. It’s an odd distinction, but it’s there

It does specify “The Establishment of Antifa”, which would imply that it is a movement/group dedicated to ending fascism through active means. People who oppose fascism existed long before Antifa as a movement or name did. I think many of today’s anti fascists are identifying with the name “Antifa” because of what happened in Nazi Germany.
