Modern Ecstacy 3,888
To all the people saying "violence is never the answer and not justifiable" How are minorities supposed to get decency, humanity and rights, by asking nicely? Therefore harming businesses, infrastructures and vehicles is kind of like saying to all the lobbyist, the rich business owners, mayors and governors "use your influence, solve this sh*t" Plus, they are not killing or damaging innocent people. That is important as well imo. Oh and also I love how a local business that got harm reacted. Since I know that an LGBTQ issue would be more relatable in this platform, the same goes for queer rights. They were NOT earned by peaceful protests. Wish that was effective, but the government just keeps refusing to hear voices. All we need is love
spicedchy 184
“How is destroying stuff going to solve anything?” It’s not the protesters job to solve anything. Only the people who benefit from systematic racism can’t stop it. In the meantime, those not in that position can, and should, do whatever it takes to make those who are as uncomfortable as possible—and as peaceful protests have been ignored and/or met with antipathy and ridicule (and in some cases violence) time and time again, their hand has been forced, so unfortunately it has escalated to this point, but I believe it is justified, especially when there those that have would rather shift the discussion to condemn the rioters rather than an institution that is responsible. “A riot is the language of the unheard.” — MLK I hope that family owned/small community business do not experience the brunt of the damage, and if so, that the same communities rally to build them back up when the dust clears. Corporations, however, will be fine.
Benji 20,113
2 minutes ago, President Biden said: Yes I understand the frustration but that is a gross simplification of our country: 1. Both conservative and liberal politicians have called for the killers arrest and prosecution. NOBODY is defending him. Even Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, and other Republicans say he should be jailed for LIFE. 2. A small vocal minority hated Kapernick. The vast majority of the country agrees with him. And sorry but as a politically involved person, no, riots don’t make progress. They tear our communities apart. They destroy small businesses. They leave us in ruins. Voting makes progress. Working for campaigns makes progress. Joining advocacy lobbying groups makes progress. I respect your opinion but I disagree with it. Riots are people taking back their power and flashing their teeth at those we elect. Politics is failing people and when it does we must show our politicians who put them there. I agree voting is important but it is a separate entity to what is going on here.

Push legislative reforms that ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING. Riots make zero changes to our laws. They divide people and make people afraid. Meanwhile people like Senator Cory Booker and large group of political junkie kids working with him have pushed substantive legislative reform like the First Step Act. Get involved. Register to vote. Push referendums in your cities on important issues down the ballot. Vote out bad local prosecutors. Pressure the Democratic party to end caucuses, which notably lead to lower minority turnout. Join advocacy groups in lobbying bills to Congress. Most importantly is this fall, voting out Trump & the GOP Senate. I got drunk

How does that help their movement at all? All violence does is outrage the opposition and fuel the far rights criticism of the BLM. It undermines the movements real political efforts. And from the looks of it, the people encouraging rioting are a majority 20 year old socialist white men on Twitter. BLM advocates like Killer Mike & TI and black politicians like Mayor Keisha Bottoms of Atlanta are urging people to protest PEACEFULLY. Queen Bitch 10,513
Short answer: yes, they are justified. I don't feel like writing a novel about it, so I'm just gonna say yes it is. It's time for change. USA is a third world country with a Gucci belt. However I don't believe looting helps anyone.
Francesca Cipriani 1,668
I believe they are justified. TOTALLY. And it's not even enough, they should do more. More riots, more chaos and destruction. The whole world is rotten, the economy is ****ed up, too much privileges and too much poverty affects the world. Let's burn the world down.
gagaxsebert 5,804
I’m not from the US or a POC but I feel they’re justified. It’s 2020 and African Americans are still facing this oppression from the people who a said to protect them. To the people who voted no (I assume cause “violence is never the answer), this started with violence so the only way to garner attention on this horrendous discrimination is to fight fire with fire! Morphine Prince 109,729
I support them in Minneapolis. Anywhere else we should just see peaceful protests in solidarity. I usually don’t condone rioting but this case in particular is different. People are tired.
Morphine Prince 109,729
And yes, violence IS the answer in a lot of cases. Just look at history.
rasclautmangos 2,746
I think they are justified, especially in Minneapolis where George was killed. I don't agree with vandalizing and setting fire to private businesses though. I feel like some people are just being destructive just for the hell of it near where I live in Atlanta, they aren't actually protesting anything.
