This writer gets the lyrics.

One line that bugs me is "it is assuredly the most lively and consistent record she's made since Born This Way". Is that true? Sure. But then why did this same publication give Born This Way a 50?

I forgot about the LAT :triggered:

I think Pitchfork will give it a cute 6.9 like Joanne, and it would be great.

It's the same guy lol. Evan Swadey

Even if it's different authors, they should still fact check and have consistent views among all their staff.

NewYorkCity

I can't believe how badly rated are her albums taking into account that they are all pop perfection. Couldn't give less ****s about what critics who masturbate to anything that has more than two ballads have to say but -

My thoughts exactly.

Also, I'm guilty of this myself, but some things are better in retrospect. I of course loved BTW, solidified Me being a stan, but it has aged so well for me in adulthood. I've learned to appreciate it for new reasons and catch myself discovering little bits of ear candy that I didn't notice before.

Mr S

Pithfork is gonna say something like "this isn't ans great, innovative, or groundbreaking as her earlier masterpieces"... the same masterpieces that only got 70s from them

I'm in total agreement. Gaga's albums usually age really, really well. The Fame's reviews were actually edited weeks, months or even years down the line due to people becoming obsessed with them after the fact (Allmusic changed The Fame to 5/5, Slant Magaze saying it was stuck on replay after giving it 5/10). And The Fame Monster, Born This Way etc. have that same quality. They just sound absolutely epic now.
