not Chromatica 5,393
Exactly. When ROM was released I was like 'Whew! I can finally stop pretending I like SL so much out of fear that every other song on Chromatica would be similar!' I love the vocal melodies (her vocal performance too) and the lyrics are alright, but I just can't get over the production. The MV... Chile... ROM completely blew it out of the ****ing water. It gave us collective amnesia and suddenly we can't remember there ever being another lead single.

It can easily be up there as an iconic song I never cared about what critics said I mean i managed to like so many songs from ARTPOP despite the fact that it is not a critical acclaimed album .. I'm so selective when it comes to music so i only trust my ear not what critics said .. Songs like badromance/TEOG/PF etc held her to a higher standard and she seems like she's struggling to top herself with songs like SL and RoM .. i hope chromatica proves me wrong . Lucas 27,400
Well, considering that Bloodpop, Max Martin and Lady Gaga worked on it and that's it a lead single, the chorus is extremely disappointing and imo, is one of the weakest in Gaga's discography. As an album track it would be cute, but not worthy to be a Lady Gaga lead single.

RainOnMeYup 813
SL was not it. I said it back then. Like I'm not going to sugarcoat it when a Gaga song disappoints. Like there's a difference between trying and not trying at all. With Stupid Love chorus, she was just not trying. It was lazy songwriting sorry. Doot 2
As a lead single? Nope. I wouldnt have picked it. But the song is fun and so is the video, so while I haven't heard the other songs on the album yet, from the stuff we have heard, I think it should have been a 3rd or 4th single. Rain on me literally makes stupid love, look like a student school project. 25 minutes ago, Mill said: It’s a filler and that’s on periodt SL served its purpose and introduced the era as a fun dance song. As far as Gaga indicated on the album it's a good idea of what's gonna happen. Her MV came back with strange looks and went full circle to her old videos filled with choreography. It wasn't meant to tell an entire story, but to set one up. Sure some parts were cringey, but I believe a lot of it was the aesthetic she was going for. She made good use of the Apple deal. If she had started off with Rain On Me, anything after might have been questionable and started to kill the hype. The order she released in was correct for the build up of her album. ear condom 964
stupid love and perfect illusions are really so good, like I always want to scream with Gaga on the verse of PI, and dance like her to SL. I totally get that at first listen they may sound a bit plain, boring or something, but these 2 have in fact way more soul and depth than rain on me for instance.... which is just very basic and commercial

I don't get it, especially when she is capable of doing more complex and beautiful songs like Electric chapel , heavy metal lover etc........ and then you have this generic Rain on me.......... Beyond the quality of the song itself, this was one of the most anticipated female collabs of the year, so it was a superior single choice from the get-go. The fact the song and video ended up amazing just consolidated a pre-existing feeling. No matter what she releases as the 3rd single, it won't have the level of hype this song has (unless it's the BLACKPINK collab and they manage to somehow shoot a music video). T3ARS 4,132
Yes, we were right. I’ve loathed SL from the moment I heard it. I was afraid for the album a little bit but the snippets are SPECTACULAR! I’m just waiting for everyone to realize SL is going to be the weakest track on this album (Which won’t be long thankfully). There is no way she can go lower than SL. Stream ROM! Stream it for your soul! Stream it for CHROMATICA It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences. - Audre Lorde
