Look up 80s Japanese movie posters, this is exactly what all the merch / advertising looks like. Seems like most of the album (the cover art, this promo pic, ROM MV...) is dark, grungy, cyperpunk-esque... Whereas SL was more 90s cartoons / cheesy 60s sci-fi B-movies / anime. Think Star Trek, Sailor Moon and Power Rangers. Imo the visual links are way clearer between the SL promo (billboard and merch) and ROM / album promo than between the two MVs Both make sense together, but SL is a weird choice to introduce the era.
