andreas85 394
Fantano's review was spot-on. He is definitely not a hater, little monsters in this thread are haters and obviously can't stand any criticism. He also wasn't being unfair at all, he actually praised the music video and house beats. Fantano also said that ROM is just an ok pop song and that he was expecting more from Gaga so you can clearly see that he recognizes Gaga's talent. ROM isn't obviously kind of a song that people are going to remember after 10 years because it's just not very original in any way.

He has NO taste in music Wonder who still watches his channel He probably has a more diverse taste than you do. How many albums do you actually listen to that he reviews? He gives attention to some of the most obscure albums and genres out there. I'm not defending him but you gotta be a bit pressed to say he has NO taste in music when his life revolves around listening to all types of music. GC1234 655
Seriously what is wrong with making music that is pleasing to the ears without it having to be so deeply complex. It seems to be viewed as a bad trait for a song to be an earworm nowadays, but imo it’s the catchiness that gives a song memorability especially in years to come. Plus when you hear Gaga explain the meaning behind ROM, it gives the whole song a far more layered context, or maybe that’s just me lol Get that fire exit door, I’m off... DiskoBaby 1,929
Tbh I wasn't really impressed with ROM either. It's cute. It's a fun pop song, and it's obviously made for the charts. It's so commercial friendly. But that's not a bad thing. I just don't see it as one of her best. It's not something I'll be listening to years from now thinking it's one of her best songs or one of the best pop songs. It's just a cute song to listen to for now. Nosferatu 1,212
11 hours ago, Alright said: ROM literally sounds like that music that would come out of the old plastic toy phones when you’d press 1, calm your tits. So generic, quantized and boring. Such corporate manufactured garbage. No way ppl listen to that sh*t without watching the music video. They're like obligated to make big ass budget videos cause the music is so fkn trash, they gotta distract ppl from the bland music. Using bright changing colours, gimmicks and choreos to distract the viewers from that boring french house rip-off. It's like they wanted to make a french house song but they took away everything that makes the house music interesting. So bland and flavorless. Didn't you post literally the exact same thing on the Ajay thread Ms. AjayIIfan? You seem to be very proud of yourself for coming up with that "old plastic toy phones" thing Are you also a TheNeedleDrop fan? "Boring, manufactured, basic, generic" are bold words coming from someone who seemingly stans youtubers of all things

not Chromatica 5,393
Girl, please. His main argument for it not being that good is that it didn't serve him the "the fireworks" that he expected from a Gaga & Ari collab. Any GGD rando (that's not a 'music critic') could have said the same thing, and some of them did. It's literally based off of unwarranted expectations, which is something that's been plaguing Gaga's career since TFM. Even then people were shitting on Bad Romance because it was too 'weird' and 'not Poker Face-y enough'. The song as it is is a smash and he could have still put it the 'meh' category, but if he would at least give us a proper reason. This 'expectations' thing ain't it. But why shouldn't we have higher expectations? Why should her creative music peak be an EP released eleven years ago?

It's literally based off of unwarranted expectations, which is something that's been plaguing Gaga's career since TFM. I'm not going to argue what her fans think because that's all subjective. But what critics and the general audience thinks who aren't big fans of hers still consider The Fame Monster and Bad Romance as her best work. Every album she released since then has been a hit or miss. Good but not great or outstanding. It's not bad but we expect more from her. That's the main concensus of her music since 2011. We should expect someone as talented as her to want to top herself and be innovative.
