"The Cure" has a new meaning after this interview for me

I finished listening to the interview 20 minutes ago and one specific part got stuck in my head.

Spoiler

This may be a reach to the stars, so brace yourselves :billie:

And it's the part where she talks about how she intended to heal her father with "Joanne", but the failure in that led to her getting into a depression. But the interesting thing is: Shortly after she said smth along the lines of "I continue to make my dad happy with the music I make" ( with that cute story of her calming her dad down by playing on the piano - that "Loopy" thing :enigma: ).

What if Gaga tried to put that realization into a song and "The Cure" was born? :oprah:  I mean, after all the lyrics are

If I can't find a cure,

I'll fix you with my love

And I know, many will say it's dedicated to late Sonja, but it could have multiple layers to it, so it may also be about her coming to terms with her not being able to completely heal her dad with that album.

What do y'all think? Am I reaching?

Spoiler

Please don't drag me if I do so :selena:  :bradley:

Similar theme going on. It definitely sheds some light on her headspace

I think it is just a freely wrote outtake for fun before ASIB

Head Empty

I always thought it was written from the perspective of Christian at the time. Like it would be something he'd say to her when her fibromyalgia got bad. All of the lyrics make sense in that context, and we know how much Gaga loves to shift perspective in her songwriting.

OP: I think you’re definitely on the right track with your thinking- she has said herself that her mission is to bring kindness and healing to people & I’m sure the Cure was about tons of different people in her life!

To me, it was put out because of all the terror attacks happen at the time so it was her way of putting something nice out - and also to follow up the sound of MR, to lay a 'paving stone' if you will for the sound of ASIB album (the country pop fusion)

Stare at the Chartster in the mirror they talk to me too. #StreamFunTonight

Altair

Like mentioned above, this song seems to be an outtake of ASIB. This theory is supported by the lyric video in which gaga is dressed like her character in the movie.

I like The Cure. Screw the people that hate it. Is it a bit generic, yes. But it's catchy and fun and has feel good lyrics. I'm here for Gaga doing more tropical house music.

I thought it was a thrown out song for ASIB?

No, the few pop songs from ASIB were confirmed to have been written prior to ASIB

I don't think so. I think that she came to this realization after the entire Joanne era was over and done with, but I do really enjoy that connection and it probably was a part of her subconscious that was letting that out.
