JustJames 968
This makes me even angrier than I had been regarding the rollout of this album. The initial schedule made absolutely NO sense; the album date gave barely enough time for ONE single to start resonating with fans and the GP during a normal cycle. Then, corona came and provided an opportunity for a full experience. It'll be 3 months since SL was released by the time we get a 2nd single, and while its slow crash out of the Hot 100 was met with silence and hype for Chromatica dissipated, we are *now* going to get inundated with promo (SL remix + SL lip-synch + ROM announcement + ROM promo images + ROM + ROM MV + 3rd single/promo song + album) in a span of 2-3 weeks?! Just no. A promo single released on 04/10 could've been a nice apology and helped keep SL and Chromatica interest alive. If Sine From Above is slow/mid-tempo, she could've marketed to her ASIB/HAC + EJ fans and promo'd in an appropriate way. Even Free Woman has a powerful message and enough accoustic potential to have been successful. -- 2/28: SINGLE 1 + MV 1 = Stupid Love [#5 peak; 12-16 week Chart run + solo hit] 04/10: PROMO SINGLE = Free Woman [Top 100 peak; 2 week Chart run + extends SL Hot 100 Chart run] 05/22: SINGLE 2 + MV 2 = Rain on Me [#1 peak; 20-24 week Chart run but hard to perform without Ari on stage] 05/29: ALBUM // 06/12: MV 3 = Sour Candy [Top 50 peak; 4 week Chart run + extends BB200] 07/10: SINGLE 3 + MV 4 = Solo Smash [Top 10 peak; 12-16 week Chart run + solo hit for discography/tours/etc.] 09/11: SINGLE 4 + MV 5 = Sine From Above (after Grammy deadline; potential for 2 "Best Pop Duo/Collab" noms + potential for a cute HAC hit / extended era) // Babylon [Top 40 peak; 10-16 week Chart run] -- There was more than enough time to do SOMETHING the last 3 months to make Stupid Love's #5 debut not go to waste through a promo/official single AND still have ROM shine on 5/22. All of this energy happening now -- too late to save SL and too soon to extend the era long enough for a solo hit single post-album -- is just really frustrating. If Gaga were to get the 2022 Superbowl, it would've been great had her 2017 set been tweaked to add Stupid Love, Rain on Me/Sine From Above (guest appearance), and 1 more solo hit; as of now, Stupid Love has barely enough awareness to be included in Enigma beyond this cycle, ROM might get lost in all of this chaos and still requires a guest appearance, and they seem to be burning through their toolkit without regard to what happens post-5/29. You know you don't get paid to manage Gaga's album promo? Why stress? just enjoy what she decides to do, there's no other alternative.

realwildman 7
Even if it’s a promo single, doesn’t mean it can’t be a single later. TEOG came out before BTW and was a successful single months later. So did Hair, and some people think that was single-worthy. Calling BS though - seems strange to release a single like ROM and then another song less than a week later. She's been hyping ROM a lot these last few days, and it's power feat, she needs to milk it till the last drop. A new song will take a little bit of the spotlight from ROM, it doesn't make sense unless she's decided not to care about singles at all.

Your schedule makes sense how would there be a 3rd music video on release when they couldn’t film anything or even complete the one they might have? Why would there be 3 charting singles before the album is even out with a 4th the day of release? Front loading like that just gets people tired before the album is even out and then for the next 6 months they’ll be promoting an album people already got tired of and limited new things to release. Also a video in June and July? It’s likely that production only *might* be open back up then from Corona shut downs - after Rain on Me it will be awhile for anymore music videos. Your entire timeline is based on fictional chart runs that are IMPOSSIBLE to predict. There’s also total disregard for how Corona has shut down the possibility of new videos being shot in the near future and ignoring that they only finalized the May 29th date barely a month ago and since have picked up their pace. It’s not like at the delay they immediately had a new date. I get the desire for wanting a “perfect” era. But you have to realize there’s TONS of external factors here and there’s such a thing as too much promo. Look at BTW vs Teenage Dream. BTW had a similar rollout to what your schedule was, the era was nonstop assault of releases and it ended up making people sick of Gaga and the last 2-3 singles suffered from it, the era was dead in less than a year for the GP. Compare that to Katy who played it light with how often she released and it resulted in an album cycle that lasted well over a year and had hit after hit after hit. Sometimes the best strategy is one that gives people time to breathe between releases, it usually results in better longevity during the release. So the point I’m making is, don’t stress over the promo. It’s a unique situation right now and she has a whole label and team of professionals for this very reason. They don’t go in without a strategy and they sure as hell learn from past mistakes. I’m sure we will get more videos and the sort, we just may have to be patient as Corona is ongoing though and be glad they figured out a way to still release and hopefully make the best of this situation without making us wait til next year when they could do things 100% “proper”
