Doot 2
David Arquette, who has expressed interest in reprising the role of Dewey Riley several times in recent years, has been officially confirmed to star in the upcoming relaunch of Scream, it was announced today by Peter Oillataguerre, President of Production for Spyglass Media Group, LLC! Arquette of course played Dewey in all four of Wes Craven’s Scream films, and this huge announcement 100% confirms that the new movie will be taking place in the same world. Plot details are under wraps but the film will be an original story co-written by James Vanderbilt (Murder Mystery, Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man) and Guy Busick (Ready or Not, “Castle Rock,”) with Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak producing for Spyglass. Creator Kevin Williamson will serve as executive producer. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of the filmmaking group Radio Silence (Ready or Not, V/H/S) will direct and the third member of the Radio Silence trio, Chad Villella, will executive produce alongside Williamson. Principal photography will begin later this year in Wilmington, North Carolina when safety protocols are in place. Arquette said, “I am thrilled to be playing Dewey again and to reunite with my ‘Scream’ family, old and new. ‘Scream’ has been such a big part of my life, and for both the fans and myself, I look forward to honoring Wes Craven’s legacy.” https://bloody-disgusting.com/movie/3617062/david-arquette-officially-confirmed-star-new-scream-movie-ready-not-directors/
tomsches 17,398
If it's not made by Wes Craven, I don't want it Spoiler That being said, I'm still gonna watch it 10 times

tomsches 17,398
Just now, Ricardo said: if there's no neve campbell or courtney cox they can keep it, nonetheless I'll watch it because I'm a fan of the saga but PLEASE hope they don't do comedy like S4, it was awful S4 was actually pretty decent. I love how they made it a commentary on remakes, which was a big thing in horror at the time. I'm just very worried about what the meta-aspect of this movie is going to be, because I feel like they've done it all... 1 - Horror movies 2 - sequels 3 - trilogies 4 - remakes/endless sequels 5 - ??? If there's no meta element, they might as well keep it, because that's what makes Scream so interesting and special.

Her contract for Scream 4 had it written in that her character did not die, although I wouldn't count on her returning. 3 minutes ago, Ricardo said: if there's no neve campbell or courtney cox they can keep it, nonetheless I'll watch it because I'm a fan of the saga but PLEASE hope they don't do comedy like S4, it was awful Neve Campbell is currently in negotiations and pretty much stated that if everything goes as planned, she will be returning. Apparently Matthew Lillard has also expressed interest in returning. What I think we should all feel good about is the writers and director on board for this. Ready or Not was a fantastic film, so I'm really anticipating this will be a step up from Scream 4.

I'd wager to say that Scream 4, while still entertaining, became entirely too self referential and meta and the story suffered. The "rules" established in Scream and Scream 2 never actually served any purpose other than being cheeky and showing the characters were simply aware of horror films. Scream 3, that's an entirely different issue, but part 4 suffered because they actually attempted to have the characters "adhering" to rules, which wasn't the point. Well that's promising. I know Scream 4 was supposed to be the start of a new trilogy right? I wonder if that is still the plan. 21 minutes ago, Doot said: Apparently Matthew Lillard has also expressed interest in returning.
