I think it's in bad faith to assume that vulnerable populations should have to sacrifice their lives so that corporations meet their bottom lines. The economy will recover once we weather the storm, but coming out early from this is only going to cause more death & cause more damage to the economy when we inevitably have to go back into quarantine because of outbreaks. The victims of lockdowns arent the rich or the corporations. It starts from the bottom and it would only ends at the top, not the other way around. The idea that we can destroy a flu-like virus is stupid. Sooner or later the virus will go out. If countries arent able to fight this now, they never will until a vaccine is out. And don’t get it twisted - Democratic governors who have doubled down on this - don’t actually care about people - they are just doing the opposite of Trump because they want it make a run for President in 2024. If Trump said “let’s shut the entire country down” Newsom would open Disneyland tomorrow and Cuomo would let someone sneeze in his face live on TV. Liberals are the only people worse than me when it comes to taking the bait - at least the only place I do it is GGD. And that last thing I’m going to say on this topic - those of you who think we can just do this forever, are just another example of systemic racism and unconscious bias. Governments resources are not unlimited Even richer Nations that have the ability to provide benefits like checks for people to stay home can only do that for so long. And many businesses will still die and jobs lost despite benefits I'm not saying the Lock downs were a bad idea to get the spike and spread rate under control... But extreme forms of the lockdown are not a sustainable solution for very long The moment stuff stabalizes a bit, a Country has to look at ways to manage spread while having some degree of the economy functioning The $400 Billion deficit Canada may go up to normally could save A LOT more lives if it was just invested in regular healthcare all these years. The idea of spending more money and having an economic cost to save lives didn't only start now because of Corona. But for Corona suddenly some people have no limits, whereas before they did???
