Crying about greedy corporations when Andrew Cuomo and Bill DeBlasio’s policies in NY insured nursing home residents would die is cute.

But stay home and don’t go to the beach unless you want grandma to die!!!

Cute how you claim to care about those nursing home residents when you're putting them at even greater risk by reopening.

Canada has a robust safety net system, including paying wages right now.

This thread has evolved to include the approach in the US as well, so that’s what I was talking about. I admittedly don’t know much about what’s happening in Canada besides that they’re handling it better than us

The nursing homes locked down weeks before the mandated shut down and it did nothing.

Opening the economy has nothing to do with opening up nursing homes.

We crashed the economy and the elderly died anyway and still is dying.

I didn’t say it was “sufficient” but you said we didn’t have it. Which is just untrue.

Is you favorite type of man straw? I don’t given a sh!t about getting a hair cut.

I care that people are going to starve to death so you can feel “safe”

I said "Sweden had testing and contact tracing that places like the US didn't have."

We didn't have working tests for the longest time, and contact tracing was a joke. Just because you have a bucket of water doesn't mean you can stop the building from burning down. The haircut example was just to showcase the selfishness of reopening. If you care about people starving to death, talk to your local representative & tell them to pass legislation that will keep people afloat, don't damn vulnerable people to die so that quarterly earnings stay positive.

Americans aren't going to accept being locked down during the summer. We also can't keep telling students to be homeschooled this fall and to keep relying on stimulus checks. This virus isn't going to go away and we're going to have to live with it in a post Covid-19 world. Realistically we can't wait until a vaccine is out.

You're making it some false equivalency that to save the economy we have to kill the elderly. We can save both by staying closed an appropriate amount.

Do these people’s lives not matter? The economy is global and its effects are felt worldwide

we can be cautious (avoiding intl travel, quarantining ourselves if we feel under the weather, washing our hands regularly) until Jan-May 2021 when the vaccine is reportedly available for 3 billion ppl+, but we cant stay in total lockdown until then at all.

Welp - I leave you with this. Trump is going to win in November due to everything that has happened in the US - I hope you think it was worth it when the science is about to tell you it wasn’t.

As an upper class straight white cis gendered woman, I’m going to be fine - it’s others that won’t and it’s incredibly sad.

But I guess I’m just another corporate capitalist grandma killer.

No I’m not. You are the only one making false equivalencies because you seem to believe this lock down is sustainable while blaitanly ignoring the science that says we no longer need to be locked down.

You are presuming those who question the over reaction and the politicians THAT ARE NOT SCIENTISTS - are just a bunch of greedy idiots who want their hair done.

We shut down, crashed the economy and DID not protect the elderly. That’s what happened in the entire North East.

You're obviously not listening to what I'm saying so I think we're done here.  Thankfully people who actually are concerned about people's well-being & making sure that people aren't being thrown to the wolves are making these decisions, and not you.
