He's a sweet and kind guy. Hurting anyone is at the bottom of his list. He apologized about this over and over and over again.

PS - Shanaynay remains the funniest character he has done. Don't bookmark me.

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

Wow, How many times is he gonna have to apologize for his ignorance in the past. If your a Shane Dawson fan (Ive been one since 2010) you will have known about this and you will also know that he has countless of times mentioned how he has grown from that and acknowledged it was wrong. On his podcast he mentioned it many times. Im not gonna be mad though for people hearing about his past and getting angry but I would like for those people to also look into what he has said in the past about it.

I knew it was a matter of time before people started making compilation videos of Shanes ignorant past, taking advantage of the current cancel culture to try and tear down Shane Dawson's reputation. Once you reach that star power you will always have people who will tear you down. I'm sure these people did not care to research what shane has said about his past videos. I really wish he never put down his podcast episodes because A lot of the early ones had him talking about his past and how he was not proud of it. I hope when Shane addresses this he brings back all the times he has spoken against his past as evidence. This Quarantine has given people a lot of time just to try and destroy his reputation. Sad but inevitable, the best thing he could do is once again address these issues and lay down the facts so people don't get misguided.

Spoiler

He just did too many videos where people supported the ignorance and found it funny at the time, he went along with it given the amount of support he received. As time went by though he distanced himself from that messy sh*t. He's a comedian who was trying to make funny videos and feeding into stereotypes garnered him a lot of views at the time. Us as kids, we thought it was funny my black friends at the time had no issue with him doing blackface. Now that we're grown we do know it was wrong and he knows that too that's why we still support him. We grew through this together, this might just make him stronger than ever. Publicity out the house.

I don’t care about Shane, but these videos aren’t new, they’re 10 years old and he’s already addressed these multiple times.

Are we digging these up again because there’s nothing else to be mad about today?

It must get so tiring being so miserable so much with some of you.

In my opinion. Just because he apologized doesn’t mean ****.. what has HE done to atone for it? Maybe he is genuinely sorry but what has he done? Has he donated portions of his best selling makeup palettes and merch to helping black communities, black organizations, etc.?

Also for all the (I’m assuming) white cis makes saying “ughh no one cares”, “move on”, “we forgive him and he apologized 🙄”.. it’s not your place to say whether or not you forgive him.

EDIT: Also I keep seeing that “but this stuff was made 10 years ago!!” and? Ten years ago was 2010, not 1967.. It’s not like he thought it wasn’t wrong. He was a twenty year old man doing this crap.. not a fifteen year old.

I’m not saying let’s cancel him. I’m sure he is genuinely sorry, but what has he done besides apologized and never acknowledged it again? I don’t think he’s atoned at all. He hasn’t faced any dire consequences. He’s still being promoted on YT.. he’s still selling makeup and merch like crazy... if anything, this is just a small stain on his career.

The people in here saying forgive and forget because these videos are old are part of the problem, and why the most problematic celebrities are never cancelled and STILL here. Hold them accountable!

They’re sitting in their mansions typing out forced, half-assed apologies while the people they offend/mock/culture-appropriate live the real-life everyday struggle and face injustice daily. The YouTube scene is nothing but problematic, racist trash and how they have so many supporters is beyond me.

People like Shane, Jeffree, hell even Kim K, 69, JB and plenty of other celebs should have been done for but people are dumb and prefer entertainment over doing the right thing. America in general is a joke because entertainment is valued over everything, hence why there is a clown in the White House.

Shane has already apologized for this multiple times leave him alone

Why should he face dire consequences he has apologized multiple times leave him alone

I will forever hold Shane accountable for this racist mess the same way I hold new youtubers who still use disgusting racial stereotypes as "comedy". The whole "X amonut of time has past so get over it" narrative is so tired and problematic but if it helps you sleep at night then so be it.

Shane has already apologized for this multiple times why should you still hold him accountable

A lot of people confuse prejudice with racism. Racism is based on systemic oppression. This is why you can’t be racist to white people. I really don’t understand why that is such a difficult concept. But then i have to remember at the end of the day the majority is the majority.

Yes you can Racism exists in every color

Ugh, Shane Dawson remains the most cringey YouTuber to this day :smh:

Trash comedians like Shane Dawson go for race or gender or sexuality because they’re the easiest targets. There’s no sophistication... but I suppose that sort of comedy is an appropriate representation of society even today.

Just because someone apologizes does not mean those affected have to forgive. If he really wants to show that he is remorseful for what he's done, he could've at least taken the videos off of YouTube. Yet, they are still on his channel and a WHOLE other channel dedicated to that racist caricature. His apology is shallow.

It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences. - Audre Lorde
