wasn't it flopping already? they probably realized they need to be even tighter with budgets/resources post-pandemic and not waste money on shows that dont have good returns

I don’t know.  :noparty: They invested a lot of money on it last February. They refurbished the entire show, with new sets, new costumes, new cast and everything. They were ready to keep on going.

Thats probably why unfortunately. The overhead was too low. Perhaps not all those costs mentioned above are sunk costs, and they can recoup some money.

The performers, dancers, singers. Etc the tech people are gonna suffer so much from this. This is broadway, imagine off broadway productions. Little town productions.

Our sector is gonna suufer such a tremendous blow. I really wanna know how opera industry is gonn hold. If the quality was already disastrous, itll be its extinction, no doubt honestly.

Also, broadway has been very bad financially, or at least was 1 year, 2 years ago i remember reading

They'll tour it until it makes that money back. Unfortunately, all touring has pretty much been announced delayed until late this year. Chicago just cancelled their Dear Evan Hansen run, with no talks of being able to reschedule until 2022. :(

I studied theatre in college and worked in a semi-professional situation up until 2017. I had to find full-time work and it breaks my heart that so many of my friends who found good money in the industry are now out of work indefinitely. It's scary to think about investing myself in that type of work again.

That’s what’s painful. To see the capital of the Theatre Industry hurt this bad is really heartbreaking. I recently moved to the city to go after my dreams and I can’t help but to feel hopeless.

As far as opera, I hope not. I hope we can all rise up together. I feel the world needs us more than ever.

Well sorry, I honestly did not read what they wrote, I only red the title and made a quick comment.

I was like why would Disney cancel a popular show but then I read:

Disney Theatrical gets no corporate subsidy from the Walt Disney Company and its stage shows must be financially self-sustaining.

I feel you and can’t blame you. I recently moved to NYC to go after my dreams and I can’t help but to feel hopeless. Even though the fire I have in my belly isn’t extinguished yet–and honestly I don’t think it ever will; this is who I am–all this is so scary.

When did I say I wanted admin to ban you? Lol even in your reaction you flip and twist my words. I was making a pointed joke at you coming into the thread and misreading the title and being negative by mimicking your post is all.:billie:

Can you be a little more sensitive? Please? For you, it’s just a show. For a lot of people–including myself–it’s our dreams, our hopes, and our jobs. Our future seems to crash down. This is painful for a lot of people. Show some empathy. You should be ashamed of yourself.
