Joanne would have been a bigger hit

Yes joanne(the album) was moderately  successful,  having  a Grammy winning song , a top 5 song, and a career changing era , but it would have been more successful if gaga promoted it as exactly  what it was .

Starting from perfect illusion. That was obviously  a break up song and i dont know why she tried to make it seem like it had some deeper meaning.fans and the general public would have understood and related to it much better  as it is such a powerful break up song if you think about it. Im sure she didnt want to seem like the basic popstar singing about her ex in 2016 but she was freaking engaged to him, we expected some kind of emotional vulnerability  from her.

Also ,she acted like the genre, style  and aesthetic of joanne was typical of her and what she always had did ,she acted like wearing simple clothes, toned down performances and singing boarderine country songs was always her thing. If she went more in-depth in intervuews about how this was a whole new style and sound she was trying out maybe fans could have been a litttle bit more understanding and receptive. The whole album  would have made much more sense to me  if she opened up about how experimental she was trying to be and not act like she was suddenly  carrie Underwood

How can one of the biggest most versatile artist in the world release one of the most experitmental albums of our time and not even acknowledge it .

If Diamond Heart and Dancin’ In Circles were singles, Joanne would’ve smash! :bradley:

I don’t remember her really pretending like she had always made acoustic music? I remember her being very upfront about how the album was different. She’s even highlighting that now in her Chromatica teasers. I do think PI promo was a mess, mostly because she lacked performances outside of radio shows. And because PI was her worst lead single choice (didn’t represent the album well and the GP wouldn’t have really gotten to liking it in the first place). So yeah, the album could’ve been more successful, but your reasons... Eh, I don’t see it tbh.

I agree about PI I think that she wouldn't admit PI was about Taylor bc

1. she wanted to respect him and not seem like she was dragging him in her new single

2. she didn't want to put even MORE attention on her private life

not Chromatica

Well, I think Perfect Illusion was as much about her break up with Kinney as it is about her disillusionment with fame.

I strongly disagree on the second part. First of all, it would make no sense for her to tell people that the sound was new for her. She's the ****ing Rah Rah bitch. People knew it was different from what she had been doing without her being on the nose about it. Besides, the Joanne era interviews were some of the best interviews she's given. And she's very upfront about everything.

I don't mean to sound catty, but I think it might be you who's missing the point.

While there are small things I would have changed (go %100 with the Joanne aesthetic, have a different lead with Diamond Heart, have a decent video for MR), in retrospect I think it's exactly how it should be.

3 points in and ready for more

If Joanne or Million Reasons was the 1st single it would have been better

and exactly, she looks more like acting to be the simple nature woman even though she said this is more her real self.

Am I the only one who loves Perfect Illusion? I wish she gave it a proper TV performance!

The only problem I can see with it is that it gets too shouty halfway through and when it sounds like it's over there's yet another chorus of IT WASN'T LOVE IT WASN'T LOVE :fan:

She only said joanne was  different because it was specially  made for her aunt and dad , during the promo days of joanne she focused more on telling us how much she writes and produced.  But we already knew that you are a true artist  gaga ,what we didnt know is that you had a flare for country music

she never went in-depth about how she was basically changing her style she acted like gaga never existed.

How bout she said " gaga still exist but i want to take a different  direction artistically and maybe she'll be back someday".
