The Grammy's are racist and they don't matter

I don’t like when people throw around words like racist just to make their point. Obviously the Grammys are not racist. Otherwise there would be no black artists there. And black artists have been celebrated there many times! You can’t just label them racist because you think that certain artists are above others. Basically you are  saying that black artist should be entitled to major awards because YOU think they are more innovative.

Tbh if you didn’t use the word racist right in your title your argument would have held more weight.

Just explain to me how Kendrick Lamar lost to Taylor Swift? "because her album was more successful and was a bigger star" so how does Beyonce lose to Beck of that's the case when she had the same success as Taylor?

They're very out of touch and it's evident they're not giving black artists the praise they deserve when their albums that do lose are more critically acclaimed.

I wouldn’t say “racist” since many black artists have won many Grammys, but more like too US-centered. Practically all non-white artists that have won a Grammy are US centered.

Asian, African, Latin American artists are snubbed by these awards that are supposed to be the biggest prize for music in the world.

But the point being made was that they award her in categories that were essentially made to guarantee black artists walked out with awards. She has a **** ton of Grammys, but only one of them is considered important. She loses in the big categories that everyone actually cares about (so does Kendrick) but they don’t look completely horrible because she walks out with R&B or “urban” awards and they look like they spread the wealth.

The Grammys are crazy out of touch and have been since Amy Winehouse and Kanye lost back in 2008.

Anyone can do RnB or Rap, its not just for black people. Gaga has dipped into the RnB genre in a few songs, Ariana too. Certainly in Beyoncé's early years, most of her songs were RnB.

Also, like someone said earlier... the labels submit the album to the Grammys in the respective categories. If they know she can win, why not submit the album in those categories? I don't think her losing album of the year is a reason to pull the racist card

I don't think it's a racial issue. I've seen a lot of unfairness even with white artists. But I have to agree that in these last few years they have been praising success over quality and that's a disgusting thing to do from what's supposed to be the "musical version of the oscars". (ex: Ed winning over Million Reasons/Praying :toofunny:)

I mean just imagine the oscars awarding best picture some random marvel movie just because it sells :ladyhaha: that's what's happenning with the Grammys.

What are you talking about ?

Beyonce has 22 Grammys

Jay Z and Kanye West have tons

And John Legend and Chilish Gambino as well

All those won a lot of Grammys in the past couple years

Cardi B , Lizzo and even H.E.R all those people sweeped Grammys last years left and right.

So it's either Black artists win 80% of awards ( which they did in 2018 ) or the Grammys are racist

Pathetic thread

If Chromatica wins AOTY, BLACKPINK will technically be the first Korean act to win so I guess we will need to promote Chromatica a lot.

They might be the first Asian act to win a general field Grammy. Imagine if it happens. How much will it mean to the little Asians kids watching ugh :bradley:

So a white artist winning a price over other artists is racist ?

Sure, xoxo Joanne :sure:

For every year of the decade when more innovating albums get ignored. It gets to a point when you stop hoping one of the best artists of the year would win when something more mediocre by comparison wins over them. It's not about subjective taste, it's about black musicians who defined the year, who were the most relevant, who show up in all the best albums lists and get the best reviews are the ones year after year are getting snubbed. The Grammys is supposed to award the best of music but they give the award to more boring and safe albums who are most likely white. Black artists innovated and changed the sound of music this decade. Beyonce did, Kendrick did, Frank did, Kanye did. Taylor didn't, or even Adele and Mumford and Sons.

Aren’t blacks some of the most awarded Grammy people in history?

The grammys are the music awards for US and to am extent anglosphere, they have pretty much ignored people from other places.

rosalia? andrea bocelli? zedd? kraftwerk? jean-michel jarre?

these are all artists nominated in the past three years who are not from english-speaking countries, yet they've been nominated or won in their respective categories. it's simple, there's a clear racial bias against black and asian people.

Rosalia was nominated in a category only for spanish speaking artists

Zedd even when he was born in Germany I think, developed his musical career in the US

The others yeah ofc there are exceptions, but its exactly the same case: there are still some black people that win, even if not nearly as many. Same with people from other countries.

The fact that OP is ignoring my comment and is constantly pushing the word ‘black’. They don’t see any other race. We’re invisible to them lol and they want to talk about inequality.

I already explained it's easy for the most popular artists to win in the black categories where judges would easily vote for the most popular artist. They get nominated for album of the year but they still get snubbed in that category. Almost every artist last year was black and they still lost.
