The Grammy's are racist and they don't matter

You guys really don't understand... The thing is black artists don't have a chance to win the principal categories on the Grammy's and it's obvious to see it. BEYONCÉ had the same importance inside the industry as 1989, both were great departures from the past music from the artists, had an concept, sold a lot and were cultural phenomenon. But BEYONCÉ lost to an alternative album from a white artist that most people didn't know, and 1989 won from an black artist album that a lot of people agree have a great message and is a amazing music piece. Why one album won and not the other? Black artists (and other minorities) can even win on categories that were made specifically for them, but don't have a fair chance to win on the principal categories cause the Grammy's board don't take music from minorities seriously

At the end of the day Grammy juries vote for what they like and apperciate as art maybe what those black artists do is weak enough for those judges to give them votes so it has to do with their sound not skin colour.

Also you yourself said that black artists mostly make RnB and Hip Hop music a lot of people don't like that and don't see it main category deserving like you do

The fact that they're nominated means that people listened to the music that was nominated or are aware of that artists music. 

They have to try harder then their peers to get nominated and then be ignored over mediocrity.

I'm fed up with these racially charged threads on pop music forums.

I'm pretty sure Beyonce and Kendrick sleep well at night with 25 and 12 Grammys respectively. 

Both Adele and Taylor deserved to win because their albums were bigger and more impactful.

The Grammys is an award for the american music industry tho. And kpop has not yet broken the american singles charts. On the other side, black music literally shapes american music. They are the pioneers and everything they do gets copied and diluted by white artists, who then get the awards.

I don't think the Grammy's themselves are racist. I think they just prefer pop/rock/ac. And they also don't like rap which is still a relatively new genre. I don't think disliking rap makes them racist. I think the reason for not liking rap is because it emphasizes beats over instruments, rapping over traditional vocals, samples, lack of melodies, and subject wise talks about a lot of violence. Those are not bad qualities, but I just think musicians are snobby and prefer their music to be made with more instruments and melodies. White Eminem also hasn't won a big award despite being the biggest rapper and having plenty of chances.

There are some examples of racism in the Grammys, but I think people are quick to label every loss as due to racism.

kpop has, bts have had numerous top 10 singles in the past 3-4 years AND received critical acclaim from american publications. the point is that it's bias against non-white people, not just black people.

if it's an award for the american music industry, then they can stop nominating and awarding the latin and european artists they nominate every year.

Beck is hardly the only left-field nominee to win AOTY. Steely Dan over Eminem in 2001, Herbie Hancock over Kanye and Amy Winehouse come to mind immediately. Country music is also underrepresented consistently in the GF, so I think a stronger argument here would be Grammy bias against certain genres, not races. 

But at the end of the day, awards are inherently subjective. You can make the case all you want for an album bsed on merit, and someone else can make their case for a different album based on merit. It's when you inject the accusation of racism into the conversation that it ceases to become interesting

They solidified their relevance for a decade by giving an award to Beck over Beyonce. What a moment. 

An actual artist winning over shallow songs about sex and token feminism that weren't even written by the singer who performed them. A joke.

They dont like rap when it's made by black artists
