What do you prefer theatrical performances or vocal performances?

I prefer vocal. Her best performances are when she just sits and sings and let's her talent out. Not just ballads but a lot of her best performances for her dance songs are when she sings them in acapella.

But I will say this, her best theatrical performances were from The Fame and The Fame Monster. She was in an artistic peak when she started. Every performance was gold. She had a bright vision for how she wanted the production to be, the theatrics, costumes, choreography. The Monster Ball tour 2.0 for example is the best pop show I ever seen. During Born This Way she had some good performances but she also seemed to try hard and try to top herself which eventually would look messy to me. Same with ARTPOP. Loved her VMA performance, not much for everything else. But she came right back from that with the Superbowl Halftime and Enigma :flutter:

But her vocal performances after ARTPOP are some of her best to date. The jazz performances with Tony Bennet, all the tributes and collaborations she was doing, her performances at the Oscar's. She toned down her image, her voice got BETTER, and she let the music speak for itself. They're all my favorite perfomances from her. She has so much charisma when she's on the piano

I really hope I can see her Vegas shows of they ever reopen again.

Her post-ARTPOP vocal performances are outstanding.

Ideally, I'd love a mix of both. A lot of her theatrical performances are still pretty great, vocally.

Vocals. I feel like people would lose respect for her quickly if she had horrible vocals but amazing theatrical performances (not that she ever had horrible vocals). She worked so hard for years to get recognition as a great vocalist, it would be a shame to lose that respect after one solo album.

If it's not another piano live of Bad Romance or useless covers, then both of course

Both, I don't think I could choose.

On the one hadn't you have performances like Paparazzi (VMA's 2009) and Bad Romance/Speechless, I don't remember where it was, but it's the one with the fire piano. Also Applause at the VMA's, Shallow at the Grammys

On the other hand you have her acoustic versions of Perfect Illusion, Her performance of Dope that literally made everyone cry, and shallow at the oscars

She just has such a range that a lot of artists can't do, and I think giving up either one of those would take away a big part of who Gaga is

Queen Gloria

I think her voice was the best it's ever been during the JWT. She had just come off of ASIB and she was very into Whitney Houston and r&b at the time, giving those strong powerhouse diva vocals. It was clear that she had been doing a lot of vocal training during that time.

I love her both sides and I was actually just thinking about this months ago. If I had a ticket to go see her in Vegas and had to choose only one show, I’d pick the Piano one. I’ve seen her live at the Monster and Born This Way Ball Tours and yeah Enigma looks really cool but I feel like the Piano show is just on another level. I can see myself enjoying that more intimate show with my family together.
