UnlikelyStan 306
I Received the payroll protection program funding for my small business - just want to point out that it is not a bailout or free gift. In fact, it must be spent on payroll, and it’s a loan that most of us will have to pay back with 1% interest so unless you are referring to airlines it is literally untrue to say that business or corporations or blah blah are being bailed out because this money is going directly to people working for the businesses. I will go to prison if I pocket this money. Lol. It’s about supporting existing business as well as the continuity of their work & consequently their employees and Working people. Free money is not going to have positive consequences. Young, wild, American... Lookin' to be something

Marx is very pretty in theory, but not in practice. #Venezuela Jobs aren’t finite material things created by one person and given to another, a job is just a role in society that needs to be filled. You can have a job without the structure of a corporate business. Free lance workers, fur example, including artist, authors ya dare other such jobs. You can also actually run a very effective organized work place without an executive power structure (through worker cooperatives mostly) but you absolutely cannot run a business without laborers to do the actual work of providing the service. I work at a small nonprofit and we’ve had a helluva time trying to nail down a paycheck protection loan because they’ve been gobbled up by lucrative corporations that aren’t supposed to be eligible but get them anyway. I also know that they don’t actually need to be payed back if you spend them the way that your proposal lays out.

Apparently the funds may be forgiven if all goes toward payroll, leases, as well as demonstrating a restored avg weekly payroll to pre-COVID so yes this is true. I just tend to inherently doubt that it will truly be forgiven the way things are going because either way you still have to sign a promissory note... but in terms of the corporations gobbling them up, its all in the hands of the banks. I’m grateful that the CEO of the very small (literally 3 branches only) credit union I use was on the ball and called me to speed up my application. It’s all about how on top of it the bank you work with is. And sure the mega corporations will obviously have an unfair advantage here because they have relationships with bankers, etc. But it was probably your banks fault, imo Young, wild, American... All the money Trump and his Republican goonies took to give $2 trillion away in tax cuts and corporate welfare to the wealthy and richest corporations that in no way trickled down or helped the American people was stolen from American taxpayers. We deserve to get at least some of that back. At the very least to take that money back and put it into programs that will help regular Americans during this crisis. Government: Spends trillions of dollars on wars, trillions in tax cuts for the rich, hundreds of billions of dollars on the drug war, over bloated military budget People: Government: Considers spending a lot of money on carrying over people that need money right now and don’t qualify for unemployment People: 😡😡😡 Utterly ridiculous

I rarely deal with our bank directly so I can't speak to or relationship with them. Hope you come out the other side in one piece.

Also there are many people that don’t qualify for unemployment. Social distancing needs to continue and in the meantime, the government needs to step up and help us out. The $2 trillion? By that I'm referring to the tax bill that passed in 2017 I believe. That bill was just tax cuts and a massive cash grab by the wealthiest in America. Our money is getting sent back to us to make ends meet and he wants his name on it That's how the US always is it seems. 1.5 trillion in tax breaks for the rich, billions on war and made up problems, the majority of a 2 trillion stimulus check going straight to people/companies who don't need it but WE'RE the assholes when we expect our government to do its job and serve the people Whimsical bitch
Seeka 12,372
I'm a greedy bitch. So I admit. I want this to go through. If it does, I could move out. I could pay off all my school debt and move out. Get a job in the city and don't worry about my life anymore.

The Gov is refusing to help ppl and everybody is armed to the teeth. There allredy protests and feels like it just need a spark to be a total disaster. I am worried about this, too. My city already has high economic disparity and crime tends to get worse in the summer, so I'm a little nervous for what is going to happen if things end up opening up in a month or two. That said, I'm not a person demanding for everything to open back up right now either. Edited just now by anonanon
Lona Delery 7,227
its obvious that the 1200$ is not enough, but the US really cant afford to go even further into debt i wonder if corona will mark the definite end of the US as a superpower Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind, I wanna get off but I keep riding the ride

Bite me. it’s not imaginary. The debt is an actual thing. We can’t just “void it” like a video game reset. have you ever take an economics class? Or like, just gotten a bank loan? You can’g just go “poof debt is gone” for some good cause. Yeah it’s harsh, but that’s reality. I got drunk
