Guess what delulus, neither Katy nor Gaga are at the same place they were in 2013. Neither of them are as popular as they were back then to even make such a thing possible again. They will both be completely fine. Like seriously stop. And artists are not checking 24/7 to see when Gaga will release so they can do so too. LastNight 5,935 Posted May 7, 2020 Share Posted May 7, 2020 I really doubt there will any noise about Gaga and Katy; the mood is totally different this time around and the story has been beaten to death, plus Katy went on to have the Taylor drama - it's a tired narrative at this point. Back then it felt like the media was hungry for a good ol' cat fight with both of them making their comebacks after HUGE album eras. The public had 100% turned against Gaga, whilst Katy was very much the darling of pop. A perfect storm for a tired old misogynistic media tactic. It's a very different story today; Katy isn't making much noise - people can take her or leave her - and Gaga is back in favour. There isn't this huge disparity between the public perceptions of them for the competition storyline to be juicy enough to follow. I don't think we need to worry, it seems like we're going to get a whole load of great pop music in the next week - it's a good thing! I'm excited to hear what Katy has to offer this time round. Now they're supposed to want peace because it's convenient since their last singles didn't even make it on the chart. What if she has issues with pregnancy that causes the era to be halted? Will the pandemic mean she can't film music videos or promote? I can understand smaller name artists starting an era now because what difference does it make but for a big name like Katy who has been seriously struggling in major years, she's going to need a major comeback with this album or her career will be labelled as over. So I don't get the managerial choices here. I sometimes swear it's like artists and their management want them to fail so deliberately give them a lead single that isn't GP friendly and allow a polarising image change or have their schedules clash with other big names. It's a cycle, and one day our faves may be on top, but when the coin flips, and the same hateful comes people throw at other fanbases, they will throw back. I very much hope that Katy does well.
