There’s such an element of humanity in this (similar to Born This Way). It feels like a reflection of how different we can be from each other or how different our life stories may be, but we’re united by the pain and the joy of being humans. I might sound old and wannabe-wise, and I feel that Gaga sounds like this sometimes and the younger fans don’t appreciate it that much. But we all go through so many things in our lives and the hurt and the healing process makes us who we are. And we should celebrate that and that’s what this record is all about: what we’ve become through our life struggles. She could have done another Joanne record but this is not about mourning anymore: this is about standing up. Considering a majority of of Japanese CDs are shipped out of the country to huge fans in places like the UK and US, it’s not really Japan’s “fault” that Joanne and ASIB didn’t do commercially well there (if that is true, I don’t pay attention to international sales though).
