They're not at all in the same lane, but because they're both pop stars their music will inevitable be positioned competitively, but Taylor Swift consistently performs well on streaming platforms, radio, digital and physical sales. As a mover of units, it's her and Adele, then everyone else. Gaga's probably in the top 5 of the biggest female music acts in the world, but take it as a compliment that your fave doesn't make shopping mall music. I think most of us now doesn't really care about promo single, like...it would be nice if we get one before the album, but it is not a big deal if there isn't one, because anyway ROM and the album is coming in 2 and 3 weeks only a few little mouse complaining about the "silence" after the announcement.
