I honestly found the "I'm out in the downpour" lyric to be more creative and meaningful than just "I'd rather be dry" :rip:

Like, even though she's out in the downpour, in heavy rain, even though her tears are flowing and washing her out like a flood, at least she's still breathing and alive. "I'd rather be dry..”? Hmm... :stalkga:

Nonetheless, I'm still VERY excited for Friday midnight ET

3 days 7 hours 14 minutes XX seconds y'all :bradley:

Lowkey agree.

I mean, both make sense, and I'm ultimately fine with both of them, but I do think "I'm out in the downpour" sounds better and is more creative.

First it was from "Now it's time to free me from the chain" to "Now it's time to free me from the shame," to...

..."Higher! Higher!" to "Hey yeah! Hey yeah!" to...

..."I'm out in the downpour, at least I'm alive" to "I'd rather be dry, but at least I'm alive"

I have a feeling that when this album comes out, we'll all be singing different lyrics

I hope both lyrics are included...

"I'm out in the downpour but at least I'm alive...

I'd rather be dry but at least I'm alive"

Maybe?

I need to listen to the snippet again though. Maybe she is actually saying "I'd rather be dry," but we just didn't up on it.

I listened to the most recent leak with high quality headphones and through it’s potatoe quality I can confidently say the lyrics are, “I’d rather be dry but at least I’m alive”

the way we lost :bradley:

jk we won! Even with these lyrics this song is going to slay us all

Makes sense. Even after studying the booklet I still sing the wrong lyrics on Born This Way and ARTPOP.

Maybe it's a comment on sobriety as well. :oprah:

Hmm I don't even see how it fits in the song :air:  "I'm in the downpour" is a longer phrase than "I'd rather be dry"

Yes but “I’d rather be dry BUT at least I’m alive”

”I’m in the downpour at least I’m alive”

so “Dry but” would be where “Downpour”is

There's no way the snippet's lyrics is I'd rather be dry

this is probably unrelated but i'm seeing quite a handful of arianators on twitter and instagram upset about the release date because it's on the manchester anniversary; how do we feel about this?

Probably the original release date was April 3 but we know what happened... It's just a coincidence :ohwell:

Through all these lyric meltdowns we should Thank our queen. She was on this cult thread saw us butchering the words to her song and threw us a bone. She really is a kindness pink
